What 175grn bullet in .308?

What is the best 175grn bullet is the best in .308 win for F-tr? 1000 yards?

I would use 185 Bergers, however it looks like our range may restrict us to using 168 or 175 grain projectiles only. (I have no idea as to why)

This will be from a 12twist .308 30"bbl 95 Palma reamer.

Myself I prefer the Berger 175 grain Tactical OTM. Loaded to magazine length. I regularly shoot this bullet on our 822 yard range. It only shoots 1/2 MOA less than the 185 BTLR at that distance.

I have a friend that used them in a 13 twist Palma rifle, over 2900fps.They hammer just like all Berger bullets do. They seem to like around .020 jump, definitely nothing on the lands. He had most of his group under .5moa vertical at 1k.

Theoretically, you should be able to acheive 2800-2825 without getting too hot. Some shooters are claiming 2800 with a 185 out of a 32" tube.

Having said that, all normal safety considerations apply. Work up slow and find what your barrel will do.

Punching numbers I am liking the 168 Hybrids. I should be able to do at least a little over 2900 with these. my 185 load is running at ~2750 and 155 loads around ~2950

Strangely enough my rifle "hates" Sierra 175's. Absolutely shines with Nosler 175 Custom Comp's.

Go figure.

I recently switched to Berger 168 Hybrids from Sierra. It gave new life to my 308 at 1000 yds! Better MV velocity and much improved terminal ballistics. I have a 30" barrel and jump them 0.020".

Has anyone had any experience with the Hornady 178 HPBT? This group was shot at 200yds, the flyer was maybe me, 47.5grs 2000MR. Bottom target was shot at 300yds(4 shots) 2.850" oal
