Went to Doc today made me mad

Went to family doctor to day for a cold or something that has been with me for a few weeks. Got called back nurse comes in and ask what was wrong, explained to her what was going on. Next she says we have to do a depression e-Val on you. Please answer the following questions. Then she ask have I been sleeping well, I'm I overly tired, do I have problems concentrating, etc... I did not respond to any questions, I ask what was this for, she replied its for the new health care act. I ask her to explain, she said the new computers where part of it and they where required to ask these questions once a year, and the government has access to that data base. If a doctor does not get the new computers and follow the health care act it is a $14000/month fine.
What do you think, is this true or if she feeding me b.s. It made me start thinking of what else is to come with this new health care act. The government having access to health records, new back ground checks for fire arms linked to these records. WOW. And to think we have done this to ourself. I think we are on the down hill side and there's nothing stopping it for happening right before our eyes.

I hear you, my best friend went to doc early January for flu symptoms and 3rd question out of the female doctors mouth "do you own firearms?" He was taken aback and told her he was there for a personal medical issue and not to get grilled on personal issues. He called me 3 days later and said he could not sleep because of it and he wanted me to take him shopping for a new handgun which I was only to happy to do. And he's an ex Marine to boot. He was pretty PO'ed!

i filled out a drs. form about a week ago/ it asked if i had guns in my house& if they were loaded / im starting to get paranoid / all these black spy planes/ next itll be long train lines to holding areas regards shooter63

You are correct, it is a new requirment for physicians. All info is available for Gov't review and access to your medical information. Unbelievable isn't it. I had the same experience last week when I had my yearly blood work. No peersonal questions, but I signed a form releasing my medical info to insurance and other required entities. I would think that if any questions are invasive then a lot of people would answer them untruthfully.

I took a company required hearing test today. We have to take them twice a year due to the environment we work in. We have allways had to answer the firearms exposure question....

NOW the tester said that he is required to ask what type and how often if we answer yes. He said it was part of the healthcare act as well.

This is getting sad....

Gee, ya think?

Guy's it's not really the Doctors,,

It's the Administration of the Hospital/Clinic, forcing Doctors to do their bidding.
Don't get Down on Doctors and Nurses for doing something they have to do to keep their job.

Just answer any questions with short answers, and by all means,,
Always be Honest. ;)

So what's the penalty for answering the question untruthfully?

Can we say "I was taken out of context", or "I misspoke"? Seems to work for Washington.

I remember the Watergate Hearings of the Mid Seventies, -----I don't recall---------worked well in the Senate, could possibly work in this current enviroment.

I just can't get over it. I don't care which side you are on. R or D. They voted it in and didnt even read it. I not for Obama but is he really behind it? Or is it some Hindin plan from some one else. I don't think this is done by one man, it's been coming for years, but why and how? We are out numbered. I ask a friend at work when does it stop? When do we say enough? Or is it to late? Are we out numbered? I know by the election the country is split, but I don't think it coming from the current president, I think it has been going on for years. I don't think it has happened in the last 4 years, it's been this way for over the last 20 years. If this country has not seen it, wow help us.
What happened to the fear of God, what happened to having respect, what happened to ethics? Seems like I'm the last generation that was raised with any of these. Sorry half my generation. I work every day to support my family, thank god for my wife, I could not do it alone. I hope to raise my kids with some ethics I was raised with, thankful for my father and mother, God fearing people, that raised me right. God help us all. Please say a pray for the US and its leaders, whether we support them or not, may God guide them. That is the only hope for for this country.

Fellas don't read into this too deep! My wife is the Ambulatory Coordinator for the EMR, Electronic Medical Records, for a large local health care system. The whole EMR has been coming for some time but our ever controlling Govn't has decided to make it madatory by a certain date to start using the system of the providers choice. There are basic EMR's in use that aren't compatible with anything outside the hospital itself, so unless Washington is coming to the hospital to read some records don't worry! Now like the system my wife oversee's it's quite diverse. The nurse is not correct in that the Govn't can just see your records. The only thing the Govn't will see is what is reported to them. Like necchi said "don't get down on the doctors". There have been Dr.'s quit, get fired or you name it over this whole EMR requirement. Alot of time they're not too well received. Some hate it some love it. Hospitals get kick backs from the Govn't for proving how efficient and implimented a system is. Like 7+ figure kick backs!

I ask the Pharmacy whales the deal with this mew computer system. The owner told me the docs office is getting more from Medicare if they us it. Well that may be right, but I don't think it stops there. Just my opinion. I Guess we will see.

On written forms I answer N/A (for not applicable); for the verbal quiz I answer that it is none of their business, I'm here for a medical problem, not to give someone a shopping list for their theft ring by listing my private property on a computer network that can be hacked by any script kitty with a laptop. Generally, these responses have been politely received.

Scary stuff...

Is anyone aware of the medical implants that are supposedly required for O'care and are to be implamented by 2015. Has all your medical info and other "stuff" including tracking imbedded in a chip under the skin.

Probably just an internet rummer but a friend of mine was talking about it the other day.

Mark of the beast really coming?

When asked about guns, just tell them you have none. The Supreme Court decision in the Stolen Valor case said that you have a 1st Amendment right to lie and and present yourself as something you are not.

if we didn't have the 2nd and 3rd ammendments we'd already be slaves we all know the 2nd ammendment but what is the 3rd?
milton cooper wrote a book published inearly 1990's it will educate you on whats going on "behold a pale horse"

medical records are very personal and should not be accessable by anyone without the patience permission.

however we have had a national healthcare computer system for over 20 years here in Iceland, all medical records are stored on a server that can be accessed by medical staff anywhere in the country, but only licensed personell and all access is registered and if someone access a record without proper reason that person faces criminal charges.

the good thing is if I have an accident or become very sick on vacation I can go to any clinic and within seconds the doctor has my entire medical history and can treat me properly.

government does not have access to the database, only health care personel.

well my wife is a Dr., and I asked her about the "gun" question this week. She said those are standard questions that they want you to ask all the time. Same as "have you ever had suicidal thoughts?." She told me she doesn't even ask the gun one, as she doesn't see the point of it in her specialty. The reason I asked her about it, is that I have a Dr. appt. this coming week, and I wanted to know how to handle it. I can get quite testy about it as well. I have a 3yr old, and it was on one of the forms at the pediatricians office. I left it blank there, and that is what the Dr. picked up on, the blank spot. My response to her then was "of course I have guns, who doesn't, don't see how that is very relevant for healthcare". Well, I guess that is a typically testy question, but that she understands, but that with a child she just wanted me to make sure that we had gun locks, a gun cabinet, or better yet a safe that our child couldn't access without us around. I think in that situation, in hindsight, is a very relevant question at a peditricians office. She said it is something that is ofter overlooked, and not thought about by new parents until they come in the room and the kid is playing with a gun. But it was something in the front of my mind. I bought a safe as soon as he started crawling. So be nice to the Dr and nurses. I don't think they care as much as you think they will
