We had 6 shooters show up for our scheduled Double IR50/50 List march Saturday, and although conditions were forecast to be brisk, I don't think anyone was prepared for what greeted us. Luckily I had the foresight to bring some 25lb lead ingots from my cast bullet days and at least with those on the frame feet we managed to keep the frames upright. there was a switchy headwind from 5-7 o'clock that started @ 10mph when mild with gusts peaking at 25mph+ when it got frisky. After the 2nd card of the first 3-card agg everyone decided to stop wasting expensive ammo and call it a day after the 1st Agg. (See below for update)
Results were as follows:
Marcus Byrne took Card 1 with a very nice 247-13x which was high score for the match.
Francis Lee took Card 2 with a 243-8x which was one of only two 240's on that card!
Francis also took Card 3 with a nice 247-11x just edging out Marcus with a 247-8x.
Marcus took the Agg with a 735-30x
Francis 2nd with a 734-28x
Randy Kirkbride 3rd at 723-23x
Without a doubt these were the toughest conditions I've ever experienced in a RF match, when the metal roof over the firing line starts that low pitched hum you know you are in for a battle. Today the Ione Triangle won!

UPDATE:
After much discussion and consternation over on RA it has been decided that in fairness to all the serious shooters nationwide that were worried about the effects on the National List rankings that rescheduling our match would cause, we will not be rescheduling the match. Apparently we did not give any thought to the fact that this would be perceived as “manipulation of results” by some of the other competitors.
I will leave it at that, this has already taken up way too much of my life.
Someone else can do all the work, I just want to shoot and enjoy the company of a few of my buddies. Over & out.

This same post is getting a lot more action over on RA then here. Quite the story.
Could be a good read for those that shoot sanctioned.

Well, let's tell the whole story now. I was the major poster on the RA thread and challenged Greg as to his canceling the second match. Please look at the description of the conditions they had, 10mph and gusts up to 25mph+. Are these conditions that warrant canceling a scheduled sanctioned RFBR match? Absolutely not. My match last Saturday in Iowa had 20-22mph sustained winds with gusts 30mph+. Are those conditions that warrant canceling the same as above? Absolutely not.

Now as far as this club/MD deciding to not reschedule the match as some sort of a favor to 'serious shooters', well, that was not their decision to make. I made what I would call an informal protest on the Un-sportsman like behavior to the sanctioning body. The sanctioning body has contacted me with the decision that canceling their match over the conditions the MD has describe was NOT warranted and no reschedule would be allowed pertaining to this particular match. (2 earlier matches at this club will be allowed a reschedule as their cancelation was valid) Also, the OP acts like his group are not serious shooters, while several of them are currently in the top10 ten on the IR UL List nationally. Hum?

I will guarantee canceling a sanctioned match and rescheduling hoping for better conditions is 100% an attempt to manipulate results. Which is why there are rules in place to prevent that, and why the sanctioning body has informed me there will no reschedule in reference to my inquiry.

This poster has always 'waxed eloquent' about the 'fabled' conditions of 'The Lone Triangle' and how difficult it is to shoot, and his competitors refuse to shoot in 10mph conditions? Then he crawfishes over on RA and makes it sound like they are not aware of what they were doing and kindly saying we won't reschedule out of respect for 'serious shooters'. What a crock of California crap.
