Well remington pulled it off-

They get the award for the worst run company in the world. In the time of probably the worst shortage of ammo in history, while other companies are building new plants and lines to keep up, remington’s ammunition plant in lonoke, ar will close its doors. The employee’s last day is the 29th. If they had half a brain they could keep the company afloat right now with 22lr and 223 ammo. Add in the pistol ammo and the shot tower they have they can put out a staggering amount of ammo per day if they only had a chance.

There wouldn't be a shortage if people wouldn't hoard the stuff. Why does anyone need 25,000 rounds of .22 LR ammo? A box of 50 would last me 3 lifetimes. Do some people really think that they are gonna hold off a National Guard unit just because they have an AR-15 and 5,000 rounds of ammo for it? With Remington's luck by the time they'd be ready to go all out the shortage will be alleviated. Probly can't find a sucker to lend em the $$$ to buy raw materials.

The plant is ready to go and sitting on enough material to make a mint. Never got ramped up- i mean this shortage was kinda hard to see

That is sad. My favorite shotgun loads for the last 20 years are so have been the STS and Nitro's. The very best hulls to reload. Wonder if I'll ever get the rebate I just sent off?

Dusty years ago when I was a kid that plant resided on the Shelton/Bridgeport city line here in Ct.. They moved south when it became fashionable to do so, like most other large factories did chasing the almighty buck and screwing all those that got them to where they were. Their facility was finally torn down after the umpteenth major fire in the vacant building, after not paying taxes for years ( cost the cities millions).
As a result of their indifference to the workers and citizens of my home state I along with many others have not bought a single product of theirs and never will.

I saw somewhere Fiocchi is opening up an ammo plant in Arkansas I’m sure it will take a while to get up and running but maybe this will help

I would be willing to bet a bubble gum cigar that if you take a look at the board of directors you may see some names that have helped other company's belly up as well. I would bet another of my favorite bubble gum cigars that none of the golden parachutes got canceled.
Just a guess, not worth the time to look.

Right. Remington's 'performance' shows the symptoms of a company run for the benefit of the board/senior executives. Leveraged buyouts are a red flag.

There was a case study on how 7 Iraqi Soldiers during the invasion stopped a Bradley battalion from advancing. We read about it in the defense portion of school at the CCC. You’d be surprise what smart / determine people with limited Resources can do. Like one chainsaw can stop a tank from advancing.

I agree hoarding gets annoying though. Let’s be honest, the guys buying 25k rounds of 22LR are neck beards who get winded walking up the stairs. They’ll have other, more obvious issues fighting off aggressors. Lol

You must not shoot much, a box of 50 is just enough to make me mad.

I call it the milk and bread syndrome, let the weather report say snow, especially where I live because we rarely get it, and milk and bread disappears from the stores, same with guns and ammo, let someone say pandemic or democrat in the White House, and poof, there gone.

I think that if things really did get bad, let's say this pandemic had a 50% death rate, the economy collapses and your currency was of no value, you would need things to barter, guns and ammo will be almost as valuable as food and water, you wouldn't be holding off the national guard, you'll be holding off your neighbors.

I’m sure they would sell it to you and banks would be lining up to lend you money based on your previous exhibition of exemplary CEO skills!!!!

If a box of 50 of anything is enough to last you 3 lifetimes, you are not much of a shooter.

gluttony is a sin and hoarding is a mental affliction

The Lonoake facility opened in 1970. The Bridgeport facility didn't close until 1986 but you are correct that certain parts of that plant's production moved to Lonoake. Within a short time of closing the Bridgeport operation they opened a clay target manufacturing facility in Athens, GA.
It was written that the Lonoake facility produced 2.6 BILLION rounds of ammo annually as of 2016.
The Lonoake facility has always been sort of a landmark for me on. those trips out west for prairie dogs, especially the trips up north of Amarillo.
I believe Sig ammunition is produced (or some of it) in AR and Fiocchi is in the process of opening manufacturing in the state as well. Plus, you have the Umarex/Walther facility in Ft. Smith.

To shutter the Lonoake plant amid record demand for ammo is the height of lunacy. I shot skeet there in the late 80s. It was a beautiful facility at that time.
