Been working on trying to find a 40g vmax in my 204.
I was blessed by a member who gave me a partial box of 39sbk to try. I load 5 shots to try at end of my testing with a random charge that I read someone had good luck with.
Well first two shots pretty much same hole third shot I pulled along with the 5th one. I hate it when lane next to me someone decides to mag dump there ak pistol.
Was honestly what I was afraid of. That I would find a load that trumps anything else I have and can’t find any more 39sbk.
Next time Sierra makes a run of them going to just have to stock up as much as I can.
Going to keep working on 40g for now

My 204R loves the 39sbk as well. I just did inventory... sitting on 1700 and feel like I need about 5k more.

If its a factory barrel then most likely its a 12 twist i would step down to a 32 grain bullet.

My 1:12" twist 204 Ruger loves the 39 gr Sierra BlitzKing. I bought enough to wear out the barrel last time. I loaded several thousand rounds for a dog trip that got cancelled back in 2020. Hopefully, I'll get to make another. The .204 Ruger is an excellent dog round for sure! Good luck finding more 39s! They will be back.

Like dogs do you mean coyotes? Because it drops them like Thors hammer, farthest shot ever made by me was on a dog 412 yards 40 grain Berger HSM factory. Should work well on prairie dogs.

I’m also a fan of the 40 gr bullets on coyotes, though I use a 223. First coyote I shot with a 40 gr Nosler BT dropped so fast that I thought I had missed. Same with the next couple of coyotes. They didn’t even twitch. My thinking is that all the bullet’s energy is dumped in the coyote.

I’ve shot a bunch of coyotes with my 220 Swift and the 55 gr Ballistic Tip (3800 fps) over the years, and they didn’t drop like the ones shot with the 40’s in the 223 (3500~). Which brings to mind the thought that maybe I should load up some 40’s in the Swift at 4100+.

Man Tyler if you chose good to buy that many. I didn’t get my 204r till I found a cz527 kevlar that went up for sale on gunbroker.
My good friend had one that is hot and told him “this why I hate you sometimes” cause I want some of his rifles lol
By the time I got it the 39sbk was not around and so I may continue trying different powders with the 40 if I can find what ones are reported good results.

My Thompson has a 1:10 and handles everything from the 24 grain to the 40 , I love the 24 grain for coyotes out to 300, a rare shot here, does number on big eastern coyotes also. Waiting on my suppressor for it a Liberty arms Infiniti x this will be a game changer, the unit will also fit on the 17 hornet , should have it by end of August.

Yeah I just got my mystic x back from liberty arms. Had it upgraded to handle up to 300wm. I ordered the 1/2x28, 5/8x24 adapters and booster assembly for 9 as well.
The idea has been floating around my head to send the action to pac nor and have a 1-10 or 1-11 threaded barrel put on but I’m determined to find a load for it with 40s lol.
Please let me know how you like the infinity on it

How do you like your unit, I dealt with Keith, and I'm baffled how one suppressor fits all almost. He said the infinity X can even be used on a 22 although I already have an integral suppressed one. THX

Yeah I dealt with Keith as well and was super helpful. To be honest I have not shot it yet lol I have owned it for like 6 years and never ordered the adapters lol. I just figured I would upgrade it while I still could in case company is no more. I have a AAC sdn6 and element and AAC is no longer around.
Outside of my AR and a 6.5cm that I haven’t shot they are only center fires that have a threaded barrel lol.

I won’t argue the BK may be a better or more forgiving bullet than the Vmax. I just got tired of chasing the BK’s around and then paying out the wazoo when I did find them.
Sierra can operate however they want. They are fairly local to me and I know several that have worked there. I won’t scour the corners of the globe looking for one certain supply. This was common before all the “issues” came up as well.
20 caliber wise, I will give Nosler and Hornady my business. There are custom bullet makers out there that make a good bullet, as good or better than the BK for the same or close to price point.
