1. 6 matches makes sense! Maybe that’s one for next year! With some new blood on the long range committee they won’t need as much oxygen this time.
2. The Dq for a non safety issue makes no sense. It has run off several New Shooters who haven’t had time to figure out if they love it yet (My Kid included). It does nothing to add to the sport. It’s just a throwback rule that was inherited from 1000 yard shooting. If you win you get sprinkles anyway! Sprinkles are for winners. If you get a penalty you don’t get any sprinkles! You don’t win either.
Other opinions may very obviously.
3. I’m fine with the currents system. But it just encourages “spray and pray” for the most part. Click to the impact and run 5 shots. Sorry! But it’s true!

1. Having more matches was talked about at the 2013 nationals Sam Hall who was on the long range committee at the time brought it up during the awards for open discussions.
At that time with Yukon still holding matches there was concern about over lapping dates and not being able to get the shooter support needed to support more matches. So the idea was dropped it had nothing to do with the long range committee saying no it was the shooters. Some of the new blood you speak of was there that day and voted no on going forward with it.
2. DQ I agree it hurts we have both been there and done it. But for me I'm not for a penalty system at the end of the day a penalty is just a nice way of saying you are DQ and besides you get A DQ card for ice cream that most likely cost more than the wood you might of won. Now maybe we need to get all ranges to do that!
3. Once you go to record fire I'm not for going back to sighter's everyone has 10 minutes they can either run them or wait look and pick some people might run them but hold for a condition while doing so.
Okay I'm done guys have fun with this just remember everyone will never be happy at the same time

As an old Army guy we were taught to offer three options when briefing the the boss. One of the options would be an idea the boss would immediately jump on and discard. In this case option #3. The other two would be reasonable plans. So that is option 2 (elimination of Dqs for non safety issues) and Option 1 allow ranges 6 SOY matches.
I’d still like to see ranges have the option of more matches. More matches is better than less. That’s whats starting to happen now. We are looosing matches. Try to find Memphis’s 5th match on the calendar it’s not there. Maybe make it an agenda item next time and drum up support before presenting it. But I’m not the guy. I’m already “agenda items”worn out.
As far as the DQ issue. I’d settle for a DQ card and some ice cream!

I forgot to mention it earlier but I'm all for the 6 matches or whatever it takes to make double matches for the weekend. Almost no one drives to the 5th match. It has been talked about in the past to hold a money match on the off day and try that for some added intrigue but no one has ever followed through with it that I know of.

As far as the no sighters thing why should it matter? If im smart enough to know the wind changed after my 3rd shot i cant fix it. That sucks. If i have 7mins to put 5 shots on the record target who cares if i shoot 34 to get there? I was on the relay that got dq’d at hawks ridge 1000yd nats a few yrs ago. After the sight in period while waiting for spotters to get back from the line a wind came up that blew canopies over. How can you overcome that without sighters?

Sir , in all do respect to you. you don't know me, if you did you would know that statement is not true.
I have given many hours back to this sport and shooting in general, at the expense of my family, because they know how passionate I am about it.
I dont know you, but I hope to meet you and shake your hand and have a chance to change your mind on me. , if you have time to ever make one of our matches, your more than welcome, you will be treated like family and it will be run fair and square .
Not sure if you realize it but all of us involved in this thread are good friends having a discussion.

Everybody at the nats should wear a name tag with their "handle" on it so we know who everybody is.
Dusty, what good are sighters in the wind if they are too far away from the target and it takes too long to get back to the target to do you any good? This is my point all ranges are not the same, there isn't any sighter cam or Neo or Farley to get you back on the target fast enough to do you any good. Spray and pray? that is your option, some do and some don't. There are time you have to, most of the time you pick a condition and zero in it and wait for it to shoot in..... jim

I may modify it to submit 2 options that she will discard....

I think I’d modifiy it on the Mrs. Make options 1 & 2 crazy expensive. That way a reasonable option 3 will seem like a deal!

it is IBS that has the problem in long range, it is not a short range issue.
nbrsa lr does not dq on a missed shot, just add a penalty to the group.
