Welcome to the Reloading Forum -- Introduce Yourself

Hi Everyone,
I’ve been hand loading for rifles for about 3 years, and shotgun shells for at least 10 years. I’m mostly interested in non-tox hunting loads and casual target shooting. I consider myself more of a bird hunter, but I’ve found myself shooting rifles and deer hunting more in the last few years. Currently loading for .308, 7mm-08, .280 rem, and .250 Savage.

"Old" new guy on the block here to learn and share. Been reloading for close to 50 years and still looking to learn something. Due to health issues related to beating cancer I now limit my rifle to .223 and 5.56.

Hello Everyone. I recently joined a gun club and got back into shooting after a long hiatus. I am also looking at getting into reloading, something I have always been interested in. I have an Engineering background and education so quality control, procedures, and checks and balances has been my entire career. Being detail oriented and maintaining records and logs and ensuring processes are followed to the letter seems to lend itself to reloading.

At the beginning of 2020 I purchased some 38 Special ammunition for my S&W 357 Magnum Highway Patrolman revolver model 28-2. Unfortunately I purchased +P rounds and after a phone call to S&W was told I could not fire these in my revolver.

So my question is would it be possible to remove the bullet from the case, and reload them with the proper powder charge the reuse the same bullets? The ammo is PMC Gold Starfire 125gr +P .38 Special.

Or is this to involved for a beginning reloader and should I simply put the ammo up for sale?

Thanks in advance.
I have never heard that the lower pressured 38 special+p COULDN'T be shot in a 357 mag revolver(highest pressure of the 3 ,38 special, 38 special+p, 357 mag). The cylinder may need to be cleaned before loading the longer 357 ammo, if you shoot a lot of the 38's. Now a 38 SW is a different cartridge, do not confuse or interchange with 38 special. Was it an issue with the M28 ? I have a 2nd hand M28 that's had a lot of 38's ran thru it.

Thanks for letting me join. I live in the North Georgia Mountains and have recently purchases some 6mm reloading equipment and supplies from an estate. I reload 45acp and 38sp and don't really have a clue about precision shooting or 6mm so I signed up here. I'm a long time member of The Outdoors Trader under the same handle. GON is a similar site but local, that has allowed me to spend more money than I care to admit on guns that I don't really need. Hopefully I can learn more about pistol reloading and sell some things that I don't need. Thanks

Hi Guys! New to the forum.
Have been from France for about 3 years now, started with a lee loadmaster, then switched to a dillon XL750, and did my final move to a Mark7 Apex10 from 1 months now.
Reload for now only 9mm and 5.56mm.
Glad to be able to share help and get advices on the forum.

Thanks for the reply. Looking at the Lyman Pistol & Revolver Handbook, 3rd edition a 125gr jacketed bullet, for 38 Special with +P load maximum Pressure is 18,300. The 357 Magnum load for a 125 gr jacketed bullet is 37,500. I called S&W and they said any gun prior to 1985 they do not recommend firing +P ammo. But if a regular Magnum round builds higher pressure than a 38 Special +P I dont understand why it would be an issue?

Usually hang out on "The Hide", but getting a little weary of it being 45% WTS/WTB ads, and 45% political hate-posts. I like the content and the people here thus far ... good conversations. By way of introduction, I spent 16 years in the USMC (most of it flying C-130's), and then went into Technology and recently retired as an executive with a Fortune-50 Silicon Valley company. I've been hand-loading for almost 3 years now, and am totally "addicted" to the search for single-digit SD's ... enjoying the "journey" almost more than the "destination". I shoot (and reload) 300-BLK, 6.5-CM, 300-WM, 300-PRC, and 338-LM ... on our awesome local range here in Central Oregon that goes out to a mile. My favorite rifle is my Barrett MRAD with barrels in 6.5-CM, 300-WM, 300-PRC, and 338-LM ... it's fun to have a rifle where barrel swaps take less than 5 minutes, and all barrels shoot sub-MOA. That said, my MPA in 300-WM and 6.5 Tikka are both straight shooters too. My home office was converted to a "Reloading Room" when I retired a year ago, and I disappear there for hours refining my recipe's. I'll hang out here a little more often if it's OK with you guys, to learn where I'm lacking, and contribute where I can help.

Hello everyone, I am both new to this forum and fairly new to reloading. So far I am reloading for my M1 Garand, 1908 Swedish Mauser, Remington 700 in .308 and a Savage Axis in 6.5 Creedmoor.

About time I got around to the reloading section . DocCarbon last week just surpassed #55 years reloading milestone . Including 28 gauge 20 ,12 along with #17 additional Rifle and Pistol calibers . .222-375 H&H .
Currently undertaking and additional caliber Rifle Build in 6.5 CM ,so It will be #18 calibers shortly .

My favorite cartridges in No particular order .223 , 7mmRM 7.62x51mm .30 Cal .338 LM and Win Mag
9mm .44 Mag.
Yes and I have both eyes ears hands with #8 digits as well as #2 opposed thumbs . I also years back was a batch chemist for Hercules Powder company ,however that was nearly a lifetime ago .
Powder and Brass I KNOW intimately . I'll be around more after I complete My build .

Hello everyone, I am fairly new to reloading. I started reloading primarily so I can shoot my M1 Garand and my Swedish Mauser. I am slowly adding a couple of other calibers with others in the future.

Hello, Sam Campbell from AK (formerly WY). I’ve spent most of my forum time on the hunting based sites, but am planning to dabble in f-class a little. I’ve built a couple rifles in 6 Dasher for precision/long range fun. First was on a savage action and just didn’t love the platform, so I sold it and built another on a tikka just for familiarity since I have a safe full of tikka based rifles. Also have a 223ai that is a lot of fun since it is so easy to shoot tiny groups with. Looking forward to learning more about competitive shooting in general.

Hi all- Steve from southern Utah. I'm a retired USAF Security Forces MSgt and current gov security contractor. Lifelong shooter and I've been reloading for probably 25 years. Anyway, looking forward to hanging out!

Chris reporting in from NW Florida. I've been shooting most of my life and started reloading about 6 months ago. I've been building my Savage 110 Elite Precision with a 28" Shilen Bull .223 barrel and shot my first F-TR competition on Saturday. I guess you could say I'm hooked and I have the credit card bills to prove it. There is so much good information on here that I'm already in the planning stages of a new Open build.

Hello everyone, new here and new to reloading. I shoot both hand guns and rifles. Have bought some supplies for both but will probably start reloading hunting (7mm Rem Mag) and competition rifle (.284) rounds. Have a friend ho does both that is will to teach me.

Hi,

I am new here...reloading for about five years...mostly pistol and PCC. During Covid I was using primers I put away years ago and soon I will be trying some foreign stuff as a trial. Domestic primers are still quite rare in So Cal especially pistol primers.

Primer availability has been my main reloading problem during Covid....

I was using small rifle primers for pistol but finding that the available primers would not always function.

Thankfully my Rossi 92R runs just about everything including CCI-41s. God bless those Brazilians.

Primer substitution has been a new learning experience. :)

John

Thanks for having me.

Im from NY. New to firearms. New to reloading. Still doing a lot of research before I even begin to reload, and found this site. I was impressed by the level of activity and friendly banter on this forum.

Just joined today. I've been reloading for about 40 years now but just experienced an interesting, well frustrating dilemma. So, I thought I might get some input here.
