Weird pistol barrel issue. S&W Victory

The Model 41 has an adjustable trigger and it is pretty easy to adjust assuming you can read the instructions. Right out of the box, the trigger is better than anything out there in its price range. It seems there are always a bunch of Model 41 bashers who have never owned one. Haters love to hate.

I am not a M41 hater. Far from it but I know for a fact they are not what they used to be.
I have owned a couple of older models and they were excellent. There is quite a difference in "assembled" and "fitted" and even more difference in the true PC and the current version.

Maybe you should read my post above.I would no longer buy a new Smith. When a new 1400.00 handgun is shipped that should not be fired due to barrel obstruction from the manufacturing process it goes beyond poor QC. It's called NO QC! The barrel was ruined during rifiling and then went through multiple additional processes and no one caught the problem. There are haters but there are many more dupes who choose to bury their head in the sand. Let refresh your memory.....steel obstructions in the barrel, in 8 shots it never cycled once, e dry bullet keyhole. It fallen being responsible and holding others to be responsible. Not so much in today's world, I guess.

Downright dangerous that it made it out. A little lookie would have saved them a lawsuit if it made into the hands of a novice shooter that got hurt (or bystander). Lawyers watch for that kind of crap and pounce when it happens.

Smith and Wesson quality took a nose dive when they sold out to Bangor Punta. (Around the Dirty Harry movie time). They have been struggling with quality ever since. We had a police recruit class around 2021 that ALL their S&Ws had to go back to the factory.

My Victory with Bushnell RXS 100 at 50 feet off sand bag can hold as good as I can shoot it at 1 inch with regular old Federal automatch ammo.

Update: The new Volquartzen barrel fixed the issue. Went to the range today to make sure it's still sighted in and group sizes are 1/3rd of what they were. Tried a few different types of ammo and its keeping all rounds in about 1.5 inches. Very pleased so far.

Took the Victory out today. The last 5 shots I rested elbows on bench, no sandbag. Stock barrel, Aguila HV copper plated, 15 yards. Hate that the PC sent you one with a bad barrel.

First off, I wasn't referring to you or I would have addressed you directly. I am referring to all the folks that immediately jump on the bandwagon to trash the Model 41 here and on other forums. I am truly sorry you had a bad experience buying a Model 41. But did S&W make good on it? Every manufacturer has its lemons. How they respond to an issue is what is important to me. That is why Ruger is off my buy list, but I won't bore you with the details. QC has declined across the board in the last 20 years because it costs too much to hand finish and test product like they did in the old days. All we can hope for these days is that when a problem surfaces, the manufacturer steps up to the plate and makes it right.

30 years ago when only a handful of people assembled their own computers, the components were pretty much spot on. It wasn't long before more folks decided to jump in, and quality took a back seat to out the door. A friend that was in from the beginning said as demand and production increased, the ultimate consumer became the final QC. This all took place in the early 90s, so the problem is anything but new. Then, as now, how you are treated after the sale says it all.

Mine has a basic weaver rail on it and some type of red dot- been years since i used it. I bet ive shot it 10,000 times with all grades of ammo and other than the usual cheap ammo hiccups its been flawless

The new ones are drilled for mounts, and it is very easy to put optics on the older models. Here is mine that has a Fastfire red dot with a Weaver base. These pistols are a delight to shoot.

For automatic 22LR i have decided for me anyways is to go with Volquartsen Black Mamba. They are about 1750.00 for the I want. $300.00 more than the S&W 41. I have just seen to many folks post QC issues on guns made from 1/21 to present. Them going to buy a S&W 617 to cover revolver side. I am going to put 2-7x32 scopes on both of them. I am not much red dot guy. I am getting into this pistol shooting more , cannot take that 600 -1000 yard walk to check the targets anymore. MD

I am pretty disgusted with Ruger, Browning, and Smith. I just completed a winter bullseye league and the 3 brands represent all but one high end European pistol that were used. So you buy one of these 3 brands, a model referred to as Target and now you need to buy a trigger kit of some type, often a different barrel and assorted other hardware to have something that represents a Target pistol. So for that original close to 1000.00 purchased you did not get a Target pistol but ripped off. It's pretty sad when 65 year old new women competitors realize they were ripped off and say I need a better gun. Little or no pride left from the above mentioned companies. Just a never ending flow of new, better, greater, larger capacity wonder nines. So enjoy what's left of your 401k that is shrinking fast and remember it was built on the alter of big profits and NO quality.

Everything's like that now. Stuff gets hyped to stupid levels. In it's basic form, the Victory is actually labeled appropriately IMO, but the one they call "target" is just the basic model but with the fiber optics removed from the sights. That's just being silly, and you're right, there are people who think they're getting something special. I like the fact that it has adjustable rear sight and all, but it's all plastic, moves slightly from shot to shot, and it ain't nowhere near true target quality. Once I put the red dot on, I realized how bad the original sights were. And when I put the TK trigger in, well ... I agree, just don't call that gun "target" without better sights and trigger. And for pete's sake, align the darn ejector properly before it leaves the bench.
