Weird looking squirrel

I've seen a couple of coal black ones before while sitting in a deer stand near Brenham, Texas, and both of them were HUGE compared to any other squirrel, but they were definitely squirrels, gathering acorns and burying them.
The black ones are rock squirrels lots of them in Texas..Tommy Mc

Sciurus niger (piebald)
when they described/named them they were looking at a black population --hence niger.
although we all know that the other color phase is more common

I saw a similar squirrel while hunting this year in West TN. Saw a bunch of solid black squirrels on the White House lawn. Saw black squirrels with white noses at Callaway Gardens Ga.

Slowly but they migrate too and this create a mixed gene offspring that would be different. I have seen them, big as a rabbit but a squirrel.
