a magnifying glass will not remove the parallax error, you would still to put the scale and magnifying glass at eye level. Back to the OP what you want is wants is a camera with a manual focus like this one. It's been a long time but I am 99% sure this is the one I used. I can't remember if I had to use a OTG ( on the go) adapter or not but if so that would be another ten bucks

I use my iPad, built a simple rack out of heavy wire. Use the magnifier app.
Works like a charm

I’ve heard of a lot of guys using a prism that you can turn so you do not have to bend down low to the table

I used a cheap webcam from eBay. Just make sure it's a focusable webcam.

dude it is easier to turn the scale 180 deg. and use a mirrow behind it

I use a lap top with webcam and would use nothing else. Getting older and harder to see. Works great.

Any one of these will work, just make sure that you can focus it.

I used my phone and a 8" tablet camera. Made a cardboard holder. I could set zoom and it would auto focus.

I use a cheapo Android 8" tablet and it's camera function in a cheapo letter sorter thingy (hope it's not too technical ) and box of cheapo 223 ammo to weight it down.

I was using a 12× magnifying mirror set up behind my scale. Worked well enough. Then I got my V3 Auto Trickler

Thanks chop house, here is your idea in action. Man that sure made it easier on my eyes and didn't cost me any more money. Need to come up with a mounting bracket.

When I was using beam scales I would take a 8"x8"x12" piece of cedar and a 6"x10"x2" thick piece of solid aluminum on top of the cedar, so the scale was at my eye level. It was fairly stable. The piece of aluminum weight close to 15 lbs.
