Weaver V16 4-16 Scope

I recently bought a used CZ457 and it came with a Weaver V16 4-16 fine reticle, dot scope made in Japan. In am not familiar with this and it seems discontinued and not east to find much data about. Optics Plant shows a description of 42mm, Fine Crosshair w/ 1/4 MOA Dot, 25 moa turrets, 28 oz.

I haven’t had time to test out the rifle yet, but this seems like a pretty good scope.

Thought on quality, value, market for this.

Any data would be appreciated.

Thanks

Brad

Great scopes, great value on the used market too. I bought my first 30+ years ago based on price and it had a dot reticle. Put it on a Ruger HVT in 223 and it killed tens of 1000's of prairie dogs over the years. It is my go to scope for rimfire rifles to this day and I have a couple I've picked up I haven't mounted yet.

$250-325 when in good shape.

Thanks, I’ll test it out. I was going to put a 5-25 that I have on the CZ but it sounds like this may be useable.

I had quite a few of them and other weavers and still do. I was pretty fond of them.
One of the 4-16's the reticle fell out of center. If I remember correctly.

I sent it back to them to be repaired-
They returned it back to me and basically said yup, it's broken, and we ain't fixing it.
Left me a bit sour. I think it is still on the shelf.
Funny thing is, I purchased a rifle a few years ago. It had a weaver v series.
I took it off and put it in a drawer. Haven't touched it since.

Another funny thing is, I had a lot of faith in weavers as far as tracking and holding.
Even more so when I had several leupolds
That wouldn't hold and track as they should. But that is another story.

I used to use a Weaver 6-24 with the dot reticle shooting 22lr silhouette. I had to dial that scope for each yardage chickens (40 yds), Pigs (60 yds), turkeys (75 yds), and Rams (100 yds). the scope worked very well and never had a problem with it. I still have that scope and another one around here somewhere. I thik i also have a weaver V16 Mil dot still in the Box here as well. Weavers are very well-made scopes.

I had a similar experience with one of my V-16's. Sent it to Cheryl Ackerman for a reticle replacement, and voila, it was back to working as good (better?) than new. I have a couple of V-16's and a V-24, and use them all.

I sold a couple 6-24s and had to go down to $225 IIRC to move them.
Good glass for the price.
