Weaver T 36 XR question

Hi, does anybody know if the Weaver T 36 XR (side focus) scopes can use the scew in lens covers of of a regular Weaver T 36?

I emailed Weaver about 3 weeks ago and got no reply.

Should I stay away from the XR series scopes?

Thanks

The objective lens on both of them are 40mm. There is no reason to stay away from the XR. I've bought and sold a half dozen older T36's and have owned and sold an XR, and I thought the XR was more user friendly and a little bit more clearer. Two friends of mine who I compete against own the newer XR and they both like that scope better than the older T36's that each one has owned.

Thanks Jim for the advice, I am looking for a Weaver T36 or T-36 XR and was hoping that the screw on lens covers for the eye piece are interchangeable. I have a booster from BulzEyePro that I use on my regular t-36 and hope to find out if it will fit the XR scope.

I just checked the Weaver website and the objective lens size is the same for the XR as it is for the regular T model. They are both 40mm so I believe the lenshade and covers are interchangeable.

Because of the way side focus operates, there is an extra internal lens and that may affect light transmission. I doubt you could detect the difference between the XR and the non-XR, presupposing that everything else is the same, of course.

I notice there is a 46X48 XR model. 46X is getting on high up there. They needed to increase the size of the objective to get any light in there.
