Weaver T-36 vs Sightron II 36X

Is the Sightron II 36X a good replacement for the Weaver T-36 ? Is there much difference in quality and clarity ?

IMO, and for my set of eyes, the Weaver 36 is far better than the Sightron. I've had 2, and both had grainy pictures/views to my eyes. The Weavers are crystal clear to me. JMO.

Try to look thru both to see which one your eyes like the best.

This is just to help confuse you. I started shooting benchrest years ago with two Weaver T 36. My problem with them was they were dark to me. I bought a Sightron 36 Big Sky that when turning from 500yards back down to 100 was always off 3 or 4 clicks and needed rezeroed. They Weavers worked and I did well with them but got tired of the dark picture on cloudy days.. Since then Weaver went away and I have become a fan of Sightron. My point is products change and all eyes see differently. Try before you buy.

The reason I chose those two scopes was they both weigh approximately 17.1 oz. That is the max weight for me to make the weight class. I haven’t found a 30mm scope in that weight.

I have both, the 36X Sightron is ok but can't compare to the T-36. Even with the inflated prices of used
T-36's, the Sightrons usually cost more.

I concur with JEFFPPC. I have one T-36 and compared to more recent scopes it's pretty dark. It's an "old school" scope and the 40 mm objective isn't big enough for 36x. A nice scope by standards of the day, but I've been spoiled by the better ones we have now. It is adequately bright on a sunny day with a white target. But the dim days here in the PNW, especially in mid November are rough.

I've used a Weaver 36x in ARA/ABRA night matches at 50yd, with lights, not great lights but sufficient to see the target clearly, could see the bullet holes and score the ABRA target from the bench and be within a point or two (line lickers).
