Weatherby Vanguard action & recoil lug bedding questions

The Vanguard is a flat bottom action with an integral recoil lug.
As you can see, there is not much area for bedding once you leave the forward part of the action.
The stock might have a pillar in the rear, much like the FN Brownings had to avoid compressing material.
Bed the front. You need to check the stock to see what type of structure is under the rear screw.

Since action screw goes into bottom of recoil lug, would it be best to replace action screws with longer threaded rod? By screwing them in to action and then setting into the epoxy in the stock? I thought that might help in removing the action from the stock by tapping on the threaded rods. I'll have to wrap something around the stock until the epoxy sets up though Thanks!

You don't want any more thread on the guide pins other than what goes into the action...the shank needs to be smooth. If not, the epoxy will wrap around the threads and you'll tear the bedding up when you pound on them thinking that will release the action. The Vanguards and Howas use a 6mmx1.0 pitch thread. Get a couple longe bolts with plenty of smooth shank length, cut the heads off and shorten the threads for your guide pins. Do a search here for 'flanged Delrin sleeves' for bedding...they will help a lot.
On actions where the screw goes into the bottom of the lug, I clearance the front and sides. The bottom and back are tight. On these actions, I bed the front flat to the mag cut, have no stock contact with the side rail bottoms and bed the bottom of the rear tang. I allow plenty of clearance around the entire action. Make sure you have clearance around the rear tang. Use a high quality bedding compound and you should get a nice job.

I have some Renaissance wax would that work ok for a release agent? The stock has a metal ferrule both front and rear action screw holes. There is a small step down in the flat area right behind the rear of the lug hole where the flat part of action sets on. The lug and the flat step-down area are about the only areas I see that I could bed. I may be missing something but, I'll look some more. The rear tang with the metal ferrule
