I recently purchased a box (50) of Weatherby brass for an upcoming 257 Weatherby. Feeling a little spunky I decided to check the primer pocket depth on some of the cases. Ten of them ranged from .125 to .130. So, I decided to uniform the pockets. No problem there. After that was done I decided to seat a primer. Goodness! It was almost the most pressure I have ever had to apply to seat a primer. This is actual Weatherby brass from Weatherby. I tried 5 cases altogether and they were all the same to seat a primer...Hard. Of course, I don't expect the primers to just slide in with very little pressure but, this is almost ridiculous. Anyone else have the same problem? Do you think I should just suck it up and they should be OK after the first firing? Oh, the primer do seat just fine.
