After reading this about Stiller and others, I’m glad I have stuck with Defiance.
In THIS instance, w/ an AI chamber, headspace was a crush fit on the neck/shoulder junction of the case…don’t think that’s it.Or too much headspace.
A huge step from a $525 entry priced action. After seeing the action that PTG sent @Woollybugger I'm cancelling my order.
I'm going to try one of these actions instead. For kicks. This is the gentleman that will be making some of my new products.

In my original post I’m in no way throwing either PTG or Weatherby under the bus. I just wanted anyone trying one of these to know that the .899 +/- 0 headspace spec was not true on one action from PTG. When I talked to Dave Kiff he did say you can have these with the Stiller Bolt which would probably be an improvement. He said they machine the raceway to accommodate the Stiller bolt and the fit is much better than the Weatherby bolt. I would ask PTG to confirm this is an option. Again, at $525 with a nut barrel or a fitted shouldered barrel they are a fair value. If this is, in fact is Weatherby’s answer to the Howa metric action they use on the Vanguard it is only is an improvement in the standardized 700 rem fit to triggers, barrels and stocks. A wise move if the action is well sorted.
Agree. Too little documentation so far. If the spec published by Weatherby is a .880 tendon and .899 headspace with a .187ish lug then the tendon dimension is wrong for a .250 lug. A nut barrel cures this. But to fit one on the shoulder I would want a legit tendon print for the supplied lug.I'm not throwing PTG under the bus either.
I do think the web listing should have a true description of what the action actually is. IMHO
