Warren County Rifle Club hosted AEDC’s first highpower match of 2006. The format was a 2x1000, long-range match. We had forty-four shooters come up to enjoy the day! That’s as many as I’ve seen on AEDC, for a long-range match, since ’91.
The first round went down range at 11:30AM CST. Temperature at the start of the match was low 40’s, and it stayed in the low 40’s all day. Wind was light and mostly steady. The sky stayed overcast for the duration of shooting. It was a very forgiving day. Only one flag was used today.,the pit flag) Firing was completed at 4:45PM CST. All firing points used the standard long-range target, as no F class centers are available yet.
The match winner today was Gene Graham. Gene fired two 200-16x’s back to back. Right behind Gene was Chip Money, with an agg of 200-24x. Brad Farrell put up a most impressive agg with his 308win. His F TR score of 399-24 is outstanding. If he keeps it up, he may be looking to challenge Scott and Dale for their titles in ’06.
The next match is tentative for April 15th and 16th. The details still need to be worked out, but I’m planning on another 2x1000 April 16th. When the match is firmed up, an email will be sent, as well as a posting to the TN HP web site and several other forums. If anyone has any questions, or would like to be removed from the mailing list, please feel free to email me at 20xclean@comcast.net.
I’d like to thank all who came out today, and made this a successful match. I'd like to extend a special thank you to the eleven new shooters who came out and give it a try today. If we can keep the numbers up like this, I think we’ll need to build a few more dedicated 1000-yard targets! I'd also like to thank Frank Van Cleave, Dean Herron, Howard Pitts, Tommy Luttrell and all the rest of the regulars that helped me with the match today.
Thanks again, and until next time, all X’s and 10’s.
