Someone will probably say the little ones are more dangerous than adults, but the fact is they are not as dangerous because they can inject far less venom. However, they are much more difficult to spot.

The certainly does not mean that if you do get bit that It will be pleasant.

When I was in the Boy Scouts on a camping trip at Dam B, I got bit by on the shin by a very small Cotton Mouth, which is also a Pit Viper. It hurt something terrible, they took me to a hospital in Kounze Texas where I was administered anti-venom. The pain was gone in 24 hours, but my leg stayed swollen for days.

Now, I can't say if this is true, but I read it in one of the outdoor mags years ago.
-- First off Jackie, you are right about the little ones injecting less venom, and they also don't inject it as deep.

Secondly, a fairly high number of bites inject no, or almost no venom at all. Seems like the percentage was sump thin like 12 or 20%. jd

I remember when I lived there for a short time, I was amazed at the temp drop when the sun went down. I noticed on football today, there was no cool temps. Amazing part of the country.

I was bit by a neighbor kids toy snake !! , ( I dont reach for ANYTHING with out my glasses after that ) mowing my side yard here in Sac never expected a live rattler, They dont bother me being here they have greatly reduced the rodent problem we had, I use a brush cutter now just in case
