A friend and I are looking in to hunting deer and elk in Washington State. So I’m looking for some decent unbiased information on some options. PM for discussion.
There are much better states to hunt than Washington.A friend and I are looking in to hunting deer and elk in Washington State. So I’m looking for some decent unbiased information on some options. PM for discussion.
Weyerhaeuser permits needs to be applied for by March I believe.
Walk in permits are right at $100.
Drive in with keys to limited gate access to a unit chosen by yourself $350.
Cought on thier land without a permit
$350 ticket!!!!
Yes sir it is tough/hard hunting for sure.I guess idiots caused the need for key access. As a kid and young man I used to spend my summers fishing around Forks. My Grandparents lived down by Three Rivers and my dad and uncles lived in town. We would drive in and fish the upper holes on the Sol-duc.
My dad, uncle, & brother were loggers at one time or another so they hunted forestry lands for deer & elk. They always said it was hard hunting.
All this is very true, but we still have a couple spots in E WA that are at least OK. Inland Paper has some land near me that is available for a small trespass fee, and some of my neighbors are pretty reasonable. The odds on an elk are not too bad. There are a few decent whitetail, but for a reasonable fee you can go just west of us, and see some mule deer. Last years results for our group were about 50/50.Washington state hunting has been going down hill for several years now. deer and elk populations on the east side are taking a big hit from predators wolves and cougars are the main culprit. until the state does more about the predator population I don't see it getting better.
The west side still has decent numbers on deer and elk with cougars being the only predator. the one problem is access every road system seems to be closed to all motor vehicles. that makes for a serious hike in some serious country. there are some permits for sale through the timber companies like Weyerhaeuser and Hancock you have a choice between driving in or walking.
They probably knew my cousin from Sappho that lived there his entire lifeI guess idiots caused the need for key access. As a kid and young man I used to spend my summers fishing around Forks.
