Warning about Hornady 53gr V-Maxs

Just returned from "doggin" for two weeks.. + 1 on the Vmax's.. shot 40 gr, 50 gr 65 gr and 87 gr.. Vmax's...ALL, just nasty to those dogs..

For years I shot mostly Nosler BT Varmint bullets. A couple of years ago I switched to Hornady Vmax and never looked back. I just got home from a PD shoot in WY where I shot 900 ounds or Factory loaded 40 Vmax in 223 and almost 400 Factory loaded 0 Vmax in 22-250. The blow-up/fly-high factor was fantastic! BTW, first time on PD towns with an AR and I will not go back without one.

Gents,

I currently use 55gr Blitzkings in my 223 as I have an 8T barrel and I was told that the Vmax doesnt handle thr faster twists as well as the BK. Have you all found that to be the case or they work fine. I plan or pushing as fast as I can.

I've found the exact opposite to be true for the 20 cal versions of both. The 22 and 6mm BK's worked great, and they have excellent terminal performance in every caliber and weight I've tried, but they are not worth the price difference these days for me.

A 6mm 70BK out of an 8 twist at 3700 is about as explosive as it gets.

Shot a porcupine one time with my 260 loaded with 95gr Vmax, bullet did not exit, porcupine was completely intact, except the ground for a 10 ft circle around it covered in quills. Looked like a small bomb went off inside it.
