Hornady 60gr V-Max

I have a 8" twist Brux bbl in 22/250 . Will 60gr V-max stay together in Montana Prairie dog towns ?

They stay together in my 8 twist Shilen. Varget is the powder of choice if you can find it.

I shot the load in the Nosler manual listed as an accuracy load for their 60g Bullet, unreal accurate! I think that if you have a smooth barrel, you will be good to go!

Last load was 34.5grs of Varget behind a 60gr V-Max and it was a Laser .

At 3500fps with an 8 twist you will be right on the edge of them coming apart 315.000 rpm, it also depends on how smooth the bore is, if they do come apart use less of the powder that you are using drop 1/2 grain at a time. Until they stop going poof or use a slower powder.

I think you will be fine. I'm shooting a 53 Vmax at 4100 out of a 22-250Imp. with a 9 twist, that translates to 328K rpm roughly, I believe the Vmax was designed for 290k rpm. I haven't had issues with it yet, also I am using moly.

Sierra's accuracy load for their 60's is what I use for the 60V-max and you won't be disapointed either.

I have shot a lot of 68's and 69's in the dogtowns. I like a hot load of Varget, WLR Primer, Rem Brass. In every area I shot the wind picks up after lunch or sooner. Using
a better bullet (Higher BC) is the ticket. They explode almost as well as the V-Max, Very destructive and they provide an audible pop before the parts fly. I perfer the 69 Noslers.
