Wanting to try Berger 115 VLD's..

I have some Berger 115 VLD's and would like to try them in my 6mmDasher. I am sure that there are folks out there who have "tried / shot" the Berger 115 VLD in the 6mmDasher. I wonder if this "heavy" VLD is very much like MOST VLD's in that they like it somewhere "in the lands" maybe 10-15K? I was planning on using either Varget OR RL-15..

Question(s): 1.) where is a "good starting point" for powder charge(s), using these 2 powders? 2.) Do they like to be IN the lands? How far?
3.) Has anyone had great accuracy with them? 4.) What velocity range can I expect?

I have a "worn" 104 freebore>> my guess it is now somewhere in the vicinity of 130"ish". I have a 1-8Twist .236Bore Krieger.

Any info guys would be greatly appreciated..

Ben, don't you need a 7 twist for the Berger 115g VLDs?

The Berger web site states you do, however, I have read on here on several occasions that you may very well get by with a 1-8. I bought them to give them a shot in a 6 x 47 with a 1-7.5, however, I went in a different direction with a new Dasher 1-8. Maybe I am one of the "fortunate" ones that will get by.. The only way to find out is try. I just want to try them with some "predetermined game plan" in place. Since I have ZERO experience with the 115's and not a whole lot with the Dasher itself, I was seeking some experience..

The guy goes by birdog had the best run with 115`s I have seen. He ordered 2, 1.250" Brux barrels in 7 twist, chambered in a no turn Dasher, and throated correctly shot some small groups while his brass was new, he didn`t anneal back then, but since has a Bench Source. I was encouraged and tried them in a 8 twist, and ordered a 7.5 twist Brux, neither of my efforts came close. It has to be the true 7 twist that is even on the top of the Berger box. I however went with the DTAC`s and was delighted with the 8 twist.

Ben, I have been told by a number of long range shooters that the only 115 grain bullet that will work, is the DTAC. Have never shot them in my Dasher but would try a 7.75 with them. Roger Gower

I did try them …. DTAC are better, i now use the 115 Bergers for fire forming. They do good there …… jim

Thanks Guys, I certainly appreciate it... This is some of the info I was after... I have a 7.5Twist barrel BUT that won't become a Dasher til I burn this barrel out>>> "about" another 1000 rounds left.. Thanks Again..

Ben, i was using a .155 free bore when i was into the 115's but now i use a .135 but it would be too short for the 115's and with a .104 FB. the bullet would be so far back in the case you may not be able to seat the primers……. LOL….jim

Hi Jim, I actually loaded a few to see where the bullet will seat. At 12K INTO the lands the base of the bullet as it turns into THE BOATTAIL (the bottom of the bearing surface) is actually several thousandths above the neck shoulder junction..

Why is my question? With the 105 hybrid BC numbers vs the 115's I'm surprised if they sell another box

I get if you had them and just wanted to burn them but on paper there isn't a single advantage that I see over it versus the 105 hybrid.

Hey Judd.. I have 3 boxes on hand and wanted to try them. My rifle does not favor the 105 Hybrids. They shoot at about nearly twice the group size as my 105 VLD's. So I thought I would give them a try..
