About to start working on an old project. Model 70 XTR Featherweight 257 Roberts. It wouldnt shoot at all, like 3-4 inch groups at 100 yards. I am going to take her down, do a proper bed job, change bullets, work up a new load, give her a fair shot. That said, the nice schnabel style stock they have has a nasty little dent on top of the comb with broken grain, likely unsalvageable. I would like to replace the stock if I can find something reasonable out there. Otherwise, I will just live with it. Its one of those things that bugs me, but not the end of the world.
Curious what kind of 'take offs' folks might have laying around their shops. I rather like the "fleur de lis" style checkered schnabel tip featherweight stocks, but I would consider anything, maybe even an old McMillan if somebody has one. The poor Model 70 always feels like the bastard child compared to the Rem 700 when talking accessory options.
My hole spacing is the 7 5/8"
