Want to replace Savage Accu-Trigger

I need a new Trigger and have no idea what to get, Need advise trigger to be installed in a savage Model 12 action that I just had Lee Gardner re-barrel for me something 1-4# Thanks in advance

The Rifle Basix SAV-1 is a very nice trigger. The SAV-2 is good, too, but it will take some time (and frustration, perhaps) to adjust to the lighter pull weights. The SAV-1 can be adjusted between 1 and 1.5 lbs on the low end. The SAV-2 can be adjusted down to a few ounces, but it will take some time and attention to ensure that the trigger won't bump fire or fire if the bolt is closed with authority. If you're putting it on a hunting rifle, the SAV-1 should serve you well.

I had an acc-trigger on the rifle but was taken off and can't figure how to put it back on I see timney makes an ad on but if I can't figure out how to install the old one I am so sure I could never install it. Maybe I should just take it to a gunsmith and have him do it. Unlike some people who have the knowledge to do these things I the experience . Having actions re-barreled is all new to me I always just bought a new rifle and used it. I have posted questions in the past and got very good information but on occasion I did get some smart a@# comments. I realize I ask question that are common place to 99% of you. I am 80 years old and have always been nice to people and if I thought there question was stupid I kept it too myself I deleted my last quest because of the smart answer.

I just installed a Rifle Basix Savage 2 on one of my savages last week. The trigger comes with a CD. I Put it in my tv and followed the installation instructions. Of course i paused and rewound a few times. If i can do it anyone can. Just make sure you follow the instructions. Set up for 8 oz with my lyman trigger gauge. Passes the bump test and the hard bolt close test

It always amazes me how someone can answer with a real smartass attitude about some they didn't know a year or six months ago themselves. Most of the triggers on the market have a UTube video on how to install them, some by the maker of the trigger some by a person that wants to help. Watch a few and watch at least one on all the brands of triggers you are interested in. You may see something you like or some that turns you off about the trigger that will change your mind. There is undoubtedly a few UTubes on reinstalling the Accutrigger and adjusting it. Do your home work and it will make you more in tune with your rifle and how it shoots, and make you a better gun guy.

Hi ourway, I see you live in Delaware. If you have all the parts for the original trigger maybe there's a forum member in your area knowledgeable enough in the accu-trigger to re-install for you. I'd be happy to help but you're waaay to far away. Otherwise, there are several you tube videos on install and adjust the accu-trigger all of which show how the trigger group looks when assembled. Next time take pics of the trigger group at each step of disassembly then just reverse the order to reassemble. You'll be a pro in no time. I can attest, you CAN teach an old dog new tricks :) ............ No disrespect intended.

I would use the target trigger ( red blade ) it is safe an will not fire when tripped. The other triggers will go off
when tripped or bumped if set too light. They are no different than a Remy someone has adjusted to light.

Well both mine are bench guns. I hated the accutrigger. that tripping out just destroyed my consentration

On one I have SSS benchrest trigger with no safety

and the other has the Savage 2. It has a safety but the only time that rifle has a round in it is when it is pointed downrange and I am about to shoot.

Worst thing about savages is the trigger situation

Makes you want a 700 with a jewell

Oh I have those too.

I watch u-tube and I think I have some idea how to re-install the trigger but hung up on one thing The safety the part that you slide to put the safety on and off won't stay on I see no way that it attaches to the bottom plastic part

True there are plenty of smartasses around here, and then some are just plain pricks. It's a shame. Counterproductive.

I believe there's a groove on the part of the button that extends out the bottom. that groove engages the action as it slides along.
