Walther PPKS extractor/ ejector question(s)

A fellow shooter dropped off an Interarms Walther PPKS for me to look at. He claims that the extractor/ ejector mechanism is unreliable in that periodically it will not eject the spent casings. May work fine for a clip or 3 then not eject as many as 3 in a row, then not eject one and then work for a clip full etc etc. It doesn't seem to be ammo brand related.

It's rather a PIA to get to, so I'd rather fix it the first time than have to work on it several times. ;) Is there any tips or parts anyone can recommend that will fix this pistol?? Thanks in advance for any good suggestion(s). WD

I would start w/ a good cleaning. Maybe a piece of brass is hanging up either function.

I had the same issue. On mine it was the ejector/slide hold open spring. Small part big problem.

Thank you to both that responded. Upon disassembly it was as dry as dry can get. Also found it with a lot of lint about everywhere. Cleaned and lubed it liberally replaced the spring and now it works fine. Thanks for the responses fellows.

Found out that the fellow rarely shot it, never cleaned it, and kept it in a clothes drawer so that is where the lint came from. WD
