Walnut Xring

This project is for a customer I've never spoke with, and a gunsmith I've spoken with once.
Project was referred to me by Jason at Xring and was supposed to be a curly maple.
Brown, copper, and vintage amber dyes were used to enhance the beautiful grain in this piece.
Jason will be receiving this back for professional photographs for his website. View attachment 1343806View attachment 1343807View attachment 1343808View attachment 1343809View attachment 1343810View attachment 1343811
Damn. Another TRUE work of art on what is now becoming my favorite white picnic table.
Brett, I’m going to call Jason and see if he has located a suitable stock for me yet. I’m definitely glad you talked me into getting a wood stock in the figured maple / walnut style. I can’t wait to get this stock project going. I’m also open to other interesting stains and ideas you may have (brand wine, cherry, etc.). Can’t wait to work with you. Beautiful work Bret.

Thanks Josh.
She quit on me, something to do with me being a A$$#@!e so she says.
She says I make her look fat and take ugly pictures of her.
I said it's all the damn beer you drink.
Thats when I got punched!!
I sure love my bride .
I always say, I love my boys more that anything in the world; it’s their moms I could never get along with…lol

Jesse this particular stock had more porosity than any other I ever done before. It was a challenge for sure.
Brett you certainly nailed it according to the pictures. Great job. Did you have to use the super glue and a couple of spots. I've done it numerous times since you told me about it and it works great polish is out and everything.

Jesse the nose kept blowin bubbles, even after wiping the primer with my finger. I wound up touching it up with the clear and blocking it flat before polishing.
The beauty of the clear is its chemical bonding and not leaving a halo like the super glue. It just takes more time.

Ah the dreaded "more time"! As of late that should be my middle name. Everything has been taking twice as long as it should.

Thanks Josh.

I've met Mrs. Bc'z at their home. Everything Brett says is a Damm lie except the A$$hole part and maybe the punched part :)

It is a three way balance, the faith of the customer, the luck of the wood, and the skill of the artisan to bring it together. When all those stars line up, look at what a pretty thing happens! Well Done and congrats to the artisan and the owner.

Sunday is double punch day!!
We missed you last month at the club. Mama should be up and running in another month and out there shooting with us.
I think hes had the stock routine before..lol
She enjoys poking the bear.

Somehow, I imagine BC'z could make a Frisbee look good, after a bit of work.

Life's clearly too short to have a sucky-looking stock. There. I said it.

Beautiful, to see how simple enhancement of the grain can do wonders. 'Course, to see it up close'll require sunglasses. One of life's little compromises. Gotta do what ya gotta do.

 :D :)
