Wally World 700 ADL Finish

What is the flat black finish on the 700ADL's that Walmart sold for so long?

It doesn't appear to be a coating, it's like the metal is "stained" black.

If I was going to Duracoat or Cerracoat over it, would it have to be removed or just prepped like bare metal?

To Cerakote properly, all the factory finish is removed down to bare metal for correct adhesion.

I just never knew what it was exactly.

The factory uses black oxide on certain models and bluing on others.
