I have figured out that stock/original 40xs can be a hodgepodge. I have a 40x with swept back bolt/700 receiver and a 40x with 722 receiver. Some articles/posts on the net state that 40x models became 40xb with new 700 reciever. This may be mostly true, but not 100%.

I have some 40x with the trigger shoe adjustment, I was told they came on the 22's. I also have an odd ball that was told they only came in the 1968 Olympic team 40x rifles that were chambered in 6mm international that has 6 adjustment screws.

I have one of those. I believe mine is a shilen conversion though

Mainly because ed told me he did it as he gave it to me, so it could be he worked on it or did the whole thing

A very informative posting. Did not know there were so many variations of Remington triggers!
Dusty, I have two Savage triggers and do not think they are that bad. They are almost like a two stage trigger. Maybe a one and a half stage.

I don't have that window in mine. I put mine next to some other Remington triggers and it's identical so I'm "guessing" mine is an original.
