Walker Game Ear for hearing protection?

I am interested in using Walkers Game Ear for hearing protection. I have tried amplified ear muffs but they all hit my stock while shooting. Very annoying. Walkers have a NRR of 29 with seems to be about the same at a normal ear plug. I was just curious if someone had tried them and how they worked.

I have used them during hunting season and they work well for the cheeck/stock contact. They are the type of electronic suppression that shut off at the shot instead of dampening like the Pro Ears series. I didn't buy the Walker's, they were a friends. We only put them on for the shot and not worn all day.

Look at Pro Ears also, they have a model that is similar in ear cup shape. The Pro Ears suppress the sound as opposed to shutting off. I just find that shut off and recovery to be annoying.

Thanks for the feedback. Does the sound shutoff last past the muzzle blast? That would be hard to get used to, especially when their are several shooters.

I looked up Pro-Ears but I could only find models that are muff style rather than in-the-ear kind? Do they have both?

I think he meant SportEAR. There is also ESP electronic shooters protection which are big bucks for their in the ear digital line not that the sportEars are inexpensive.

I have tried the Game ears off a bench with a metal roof overhead, they didn't work very well, the sound level hurt my ears. I don't know if the sound was reflected off the metal roof and the electronics didn't respond correctly or if there was some other problem. They were not effective for me. I hoped they would enable a better check weld, didn't work out.
