WA State LR Regional Results From TCSA (Rattlesnake) - Oct. 9/10/11 (+PHOTOS)

I enjoy seeing match results from all over the country and I thought I would start posting results from the PNW - OR, WA and surrounding areas. We just had our LR Regional this past weekend at Tri-Cities Shooting Association - also known locally as "Rattlesnake". Fairly well known for it's difficult wind conditions. At one point, during our 20-shot 1000 yard stage, we had a storm blow to give us a 35mph full value wind, that at times changed direction and velocity. I'm not the greatest wind reader in the world - I'll admit that under those conditions, with 18.5 minutes of wind on, I just shot as fast as I could, chased the spotter around, and prayed.

I'm going to add some pictures this evening as well, but here are the scores to start with.

Also, a shout out to Monte Milanuk (memilanuk) for saving my bacon during the stage referenced above. Previously, I've never had more than 9 minutes of wind on; after three sighters, I still wasn't on paper and I wasn't believing the puller. To make it even more fun, I showed up with the bare minimum of rounds and at that point, could not afford to shoot many more sighters. Monte convinced me that dialing in that much wind was, in fact, NOT insane. As it was, I came down to the last relay with 1 sighter and nothing else to spare. :-)

Even some of the well-known wind ninja's shooting sling were having some difficulty with the conditions. I fully admit that I was using them to dope my sighters and record shots. I love shooting right next to the top sling shooters.

BTW, I'll repost some of them here, but the match director takes a lot of great pictures and posts them up on Facebook after every match. Lots of great shots of individual sling shooters and F-Class shooters at various stages. They're at https://www.facebook.com/TCSAHP.

Re: WA State LR Regional Results From TCSA (Rattlesnake) - Oct. 9/10/11

It was a great match, yet again. It seems like rattlesnake never ceases to throw tougher and tougher conditions at all of the shooters. This was by far the toughest match for conditions and competitors that I have every shot in. Great job to Jay, Todd, Gary and the rest of the shooters who came out and stuck it out through the wind, and a huge thanks to John and Bob for putting on a great match yet again. On a side note we also got to test out a new electronic target system that they are considering installing at Rattlesnake. I was pretty impressed and I think it could be a great addition to the range provided some software stuff gets updated. Thanks again everyone!

Thanks for posting Jay and nice shooting. I thought you were F-Open, finally wise up? :) I see that Brit, Andrew, has not run out of gas yet either

Maybe so - I can't get my F-Open rifle to shoot right now, so I had to go with what was working for me. On the other hand, I sure am enjoying F-TR and I'm not missing lugging around a front rest. I don't know if I can go back. :-) I don't know how Andrew is doing it. I'd be burned out if I was him.
