VV powders in 6BR

There are tons of threads in VV powders, but I can’t find quite what I’m looking for.

i have a 1:8 twist barrel ans shoot 70 to 105 gr bullets. I’ve been ok with Varget for these, but will be trying out VV powders.

question is-
Do I just go with N140 for all or N135 for 70/95 and N140 for 105s?

One of the BEST powders I have used in either a 6BR or 6Dasher is VV N540. Super accurate and super fast>>>But it has 2 drawbacks: 1.) it is extremely hard on throats due to it's "heat / explosion" characteristic of being the "hottest" powder out there; and 2.) not as temp stable as Varget or other "Extreme" powders.. I used this powder fairly often with 105 class bullets. It may be a tad bit on the slow burning side for 80gr class bullets..

This may be of no use to th.e OP at all as I do not have a 6BR

I have just started trying VV powders because of powder availability issues.
Running ladders in my dashers, I think N-140 is close to RL-15 in burn rate and N-135 is close to H4895, although I think it is a tad faster. These ladders were shot with 103-105gr bullets.
I also shot a ladder with my Grinch with 95 gr bullets using N-135.
From these limited tests, I feel either powder could be tuned for these applications.

It's interesting you say N540 is so hot, I have read that elsewhere. I did find this chart in an old thread, which puts N540 around the same as Varget and H4895.

The heaviest bullets I shot with bra was 90. When I stepped up to 100+ I moved up to the 6BRX. Veaget then quickly established as the powder.

I have had good results with VV N140 and Berger 88 gr. flat base bullets out to 200 yds. in short range BR. I plan to try it with 105 Berger Hybrids at 600 yard F-Class. My Varget supply is almost gone and I am hoarding it for the 600 yard match at the BSWN.

Hi there. I'm now in the same spot you were back when you posted this.

What did you end up choosing and how did it work out?

I'm shooting 133 in a 6br with 68s. Can't see to change to anything else. But I might if I planned on heavier pills.
I'm about on board, with the idea, you can get anything to shoot if the powder's in the burn rate ball park of the bullet's your wanting to use.
