VV Powder with 6XC

My latest 6XC is running N560 with the 107 Match King at some pretty incredible speeds and phenomenal accuracy.

I've run N165 in my 243 with 105's and my 22 Creedmoor with 90's for years. Great accuracy, good velocity, exceptional barrel life. I even shoot 90's rapid fire at the 300 yard line with N165. I'm loading for pure accuracy, but still push the 105's to 3150 and the 90's to 2900 without issue.

Both of those cartridges have considerably higher case capacity to bore area ratios than the 6XC and therefore need and benefit from slower burning powders.

6XC has several grains less capacity than a 243. Can u use N165 in ur XC, sure, but u may not be able to load enough powder to get the velocity u are looking for.
There is a reason the 243 SLR is so popular. It has just enough more powder capacity to push 115 gr. bullets without the higher pressures n shorted brass life of a 6XC.

I agree, N165 might work in a XC but its not ideal. You might be able to get enough powder in with a long drop tube to get you to the higher end of the speed spectrum, 243AI and 6 Comp Match size cases are ideal for N165

26” barrel, 38g of n165. 90’s set at 2.630 OAL. 1-7 twist. 2880fps here in Phoenix stupid accurate, repeatedly shooting groups in the high .1’s and low .2’s.
