VV N150 Loads in 6 Dasher or Straight 6BR?

Well tested next day at 300 yards , no good, almost 2” 3 shot group. Same load but my velocity dropped to 2950 range, kind of strange. Not sure if increasing charge weight to get the velocity back up would have helped or not.

Are you associating the increase in MOA group size with the powder?

Well, I’m not sure .
At 100 yards at the end of the day I had a 3 shot group about .3” . The velocity was averaging around 2985. The next day I shot same load at 300 and it was almost 2”. The velocity that day was around 2950. I did not increase the charge weight to get the velocity up to where it was the day before to see if the group would close up. My H 4895 group shoots about 1/2” - 5/8 at 300.

OK I threw together 3 rounds to try during my practice session. 6 BR, 28" Bartlein, 78F, 88%RH, 29.94 Hg, Lapua multi fired brass, CCI 450, 103 Gr Bullets, Seated into the lands .015 past touch
N150 Grains speed (lab radar)
30.6 2889fps
30.8 2906fps
31.0 2933fps

Primers were a little pouty but bolt lifted easily. Faster than I expected for sure. Probably should have started at 30,0. I'll be doing more testing. Thanks for all the feedback.
Any updates you care to share?

I backed down to 30.4 Gr of N150 to get back to near the 2850 fps varget load that has worked well in 3 different barrels for me. Used the same seating depth as what worked with varget. Got a 0.5" group that was mostly vertical. Not very good for this rifle. Speed was 2840 fps. I'm going to wait until I get a new barrel to give this a serious go. I think it can work and I'm tired of chasing varget.

Edit: 103 Grain Bullets.

Do any of you 6mmbr shooters use N-150 for your light bullets loads my 6br has a 14 twist Krieger bbl. as i have few pounds of it in my powder stash, thanks for any info.
Hi I ran some 87 grain vmax with N150 using a 26” barrel I managed speeds of just under 3100 fps little hot at 31-50 grains in my setup will try again shot at 200 yards

Update some-time later: I had 2 dasher barrels that really liked N150. Completely different barrels. One being a Proof and the other a CRB. Both could run either 30.8gr or 31.5gr and consistently keep 105’s well under the 1/2” mark @ roughly 2820 and 2850 fps.

It is noticeably dirtier in the bore than some other powders. My CRB doesn’t seem to care, but I have 2 other Brux barrels where this seems to be a deal breaker. They get dirty and don’t like it.

Even though it’s slower on the burn rate chart than Varget, It does not behave that way for me. All things being equal, my experience is that similar charge weights will produce similar velocities with N150/Varget. Pressure signs and such seem to show up sooner with N150.

All in all, N150 works in the dasher. It’s not as “easy” as Varget. But, what is? It’s cheaper and works. Hope this helps someone.
