VuDoo vs CZ 457 MTR with Lapua Center X

Finally have some Lapua Center X ammo to shoot. So today the conditions were acceptable and I shot both my VuDoo and my CZ 457 MTR that currently has a Lilja barrel on it. All shots were at 50 yards. I'll spare you the details, but I tried to keep it as fair as I could. I had 3 different lots of Center X that I shot in both rifles. For comparison, I scored each 5 shot group, tossed the worst 2 groups, got the agg and divided by 8 for the average group size. Here is how they fared:
Ammo --------------- --- VuDoo ----------------- CZ 457
Center X Lot 1 ------------- .357" ----------------- .326"

Center X Lot 2 ------------- .329" ----------------- .323"

Center X Lot 3 ------------- .294" ----------------- .304"

I was hoping to see a head-to-head comparison between Vudoo and 457MTR as they come from the manufacturer.
Also, does your Vudoo wear an ACE barrel? Bartlien?
Did you have an opportunity to test the CZ MTR barrel to the Lilja for accuracy?
Did it come to you as a BA and bedded into a chassis?
Has the MTR factory stock been left on the rifle?
If so was it glass and pillar bedded?
Well, no matter the answers, it appears your "test" only tested our ability to ask.
After all, isn't the "devil in the details"?

I have a single shot VuDoo with a Benchmark barrel on the way and a 457 MTR that can shoot sub MOA with the OEM barrel. It is going to be interesting to see how much better the VuDoo will shoot at 3 time the price of the MTR

I have a Gen I Vudoo and (not sure) seems like a Bartlien barrel. It has never disappointed but I have surely failed it a few times. ;)
Also have a CZ MTR. The only changes from factory are KRG Bravo and Timney Trigger. It has actually outscored the Vudoo a few times.

I applaud you for doing the test and while interesting, I don't really see what value the results have to anyone but you, We all know now how your 3 lots of CX shoot in your 2 rifles. Unfortunately, your results are in no way indicitive of how well or poorly CX (let alone the individual lots) will shoot in another rifle.

some results I had with my MTR, 2 lots of Midas +, CenterX, Eley Black box match. Fiocchi Exacta Winter, and RWS 100. all were 5 shot groups. It has actually shot a few (2 or 3) groups down in the ones but those are not the norm.

edit - OEM barrel and stock. Jard trigger and bedded

With the single shot action on the Vudoo equipped with a good barrel, bedded stock and a few prayers I am hoping for groups in the 1's and low 2's. I can get that out of my old 40X with a worn out barrel, ejection issues and too much headspace

I don't get wanting to see a head to head between a Voodoo and a 457. A comparison between a 700 dollar rifle and a total custom worth thousands of dollars? I have shot next to 2 different Voodoos at the public range and was unimpressed, I would have thought the difference would be light years better than a CZ. All the internet talk has me thinking its the same PR campaign as Creedmoor. I wanted badly to love them and was contemplating purchasing one.

I see a good test of Equipment and Ammo.
I see that spending your dollars on the most High End .22 Rifle may not get you the Prize.

This is my favorite punch line : It's not the Arrow it's the Indian ? joke …….

Yea that ain't true either. My wife is a national champion archer, before she learned to make her own arrows she was back in the pack. I takes a good rifle good ammo and a good shooter. I totally agree with you, a good Indian is necessary, but only part of the equation.

While the test was interesting it is nothing more of samples of one rifle, one lot of ammo, etc., on a given day the results may have flipped.

We all have different use different standards - mine is five consecutive 5 shot groups at 50 yds. I do not throw out any groups even if I know that they were shooter error or caused by a missed condition. I measure the groups as if they were shot in a match and use them all in the average calculation.

I am not trying to take anything away from your nice groups - nice shooting.

No disrespect. punch line ? joke

I appreciate the effort. Nothing wrong with your data collection or processing as far as I can tell. (Of course, we'd all enjoy if you burned even more of your precious ammo in the name of statistical significance but we're all realistic I think). Personally, I'd always rather see the simplest and cleanest experiment first, before moving on to more elaborate, costly, and difficult to interpret methods. Even if the simplest experiment does not rip apart the fabric of convention, lol.

That said, those are benchrest targets and that reminds me that in benchrest every shot counts. Discarding the worst groups feels inappropriate. But shooter induced error is a thing and it's a judgment call when to do that. IMHO.

I see it as a comparison between one Vudoo barrel / chamber and a CZ MTR barrel/chamber across three random lots of match ammo. I think for someone new to precision 22lr, it provides data on a common question - how much do you gain if you spend more for a Vudoo compared to an MTR, all else being held equal? And that result is not surprising to some here - while these are both good shooters, the showed no accuracy Vudoo yet.

I have no idea if that's what your experiment was intended to question, if it was meant to question anything specifically, at all. What question, if any, was your test trying to answer?

I plan to put the factory MTR barrel back on and shoot it at 50 yards for comparison. Most of it was at 100m
My Vudoo has a Bartlein on it
I haven't shot the Lilja at 100m yet, but will
I purchased the MTR as a rifle with the composite pillars
Yes, still wearing the MTR stock, just refinished it
Not bedded or changed the pillars yet.
