VT 103 hand pulled

Does anyone have the G1 BC of a 103. Looking to create a click chart but I’m having trouble accessing Toms website.

Tested yesterday for the first time. Using 2020 VT’s, second firing on new Lapua brass to sharpen the shoulder. The bullets were not sorted. Shooting was performed at 510yds. BR primers and H-4895.

Do you use a full load for your second firing?

My velocities are still down on the second firings. They always come back on the third which I use for competitions. Everything usually settles in by the third firing. My cases usually fire their best groups for the 3 and 4 firings.

Timely post. Once the brass is worn and pockets start to loosening you, do you see a decline in accuracy or more flyers?

I’m using Lapua brass and have never had a loose primer pocket. For matches I only typically keep a set of brass for 8 firings. I only size them in a Harrell’s die with a neck bushing. I don’t use a mandrel, when bullet seating pressures start to go up I start a new set. Usually 36 pieces for a season.

just out of curiosity, I am almost out of my hammers and will be trying some hand pulled vt next. is your chamber a .268 and if so what bushing are you using. if not, how much neck tension (I know y'all, I know:confused:) are you running. I heard someone say once that the vt like more tension than some other bullets. thanks in advance and have a great night:)

I have a.266 neck and sizing with a.262 bushing. My seating pressures with the 21st century press are right around 8-10. I changed the gauge to a 0-30 and it’s works great. All of my fired cases come out at.265, I only size half of the neck. The lower portion which is unsized centers the bullet in the chamber.

With a .155fb the pressure ring never comes close to the neck junction where that bad ring forms. Neck brass flow is no concern. Mandrel not needed.

I'm confused.... I thought that the Donut occured where you stop neck sizing your brass, ie... you are neck sizing 1/2 way down the neck, isn't that where the Donut is going to form?

Wow, I thought it was a combination of sizing with a bushing die (no matter where they stopped neck sizing), and the fired cartridges pressure moving the brass from, the neck shoulder junction up the neck.

Thanks.

I may have to give partial neck sizing a try.
