Vortex Warranty!

It's the little things that add up to make the difference between acceptable and great. Just finished moving a few months back and I'm now in the process of building the gun room and setting up all of my reloading materials.

Part of the process was unpacking all of the firearms, checking for damage and loading them into the gun safe. I've got a Vortex 4-16 with an illuminated reticle mounted on my CZ 527 in 223. I noticed that the screw on cap which holds the battery in on the scope was missing. Just one additional "issue" to put on the to do list next to the items that had been damaged in the move.

Last week I went on Vortex's site and emailed them, explaining the situation asking for them to let me know what the cost would be to replace the cap. Last Friday a received a small package in the mail, a note from Vortex thanking me for purchasing their product and a free replacement cap for the scope. I can think of a few companies that would have sent back an email instead, telling me what the replacement part together with what shipping would be.

I consider this type of service to be excellent, above and beyond what most companies would do. I'm in the market for a scope for my 6.5-284. Needless to say it will be a vortex, I just haven't decided on the details as of yet.

Not an isolated good deed from Vortex. That is the way they treat everyone.
Great folks and some great optics.

I have the same scope and cannot get it to focus, it appears clear till you try to focus on a target and it is just slightly blurry, I sent it back and it returned saying there was no problems. I don't know what to do next.

I had a Vortex strikefire 1 that went bad. Sent it in for repair and they sent me a newer model brand new. They are awesome! Don

I would insist on them either fixing it or replacing the scope.

Haven't had to use their warranty yet, but I just sent a spotting scope in to another company.. I got back a different lesser model that won't do me any good..

I was initially apprehensive about purchasing my first Vortex. Their customer service and warranty have prompted me to acquire three more scopes over the past fourteen months. Obviously there are finer optics out there, but when it comes to "bang for your buck" I consider them exceptional.

Are you putting the parallax numbers on the range you are shooting and expecting it to be clear or adjusting the parallax and not looking at the numbers? The numbers are only references and if you are at 100 yards and put parallax knob on 100 yards it might not be clear and you might need to adjust it.

Use the numbers as reference only. That is why most companies put dots or marks other than numbers as it doesn't cause confusion. Don;t think this is a Vortex issue either as it is this way with most every scope. I think I only had one S&B that was very close to the numbers. That's out of 8 S&B scopes.

I really like my vortex optics.. This is my first one I thought I would give them a try also.. So far no problems...
Not only is their warranty good if you have a question they answer it and you can get ahold of them.. All this is very important to me.. You can have problems with anything at any price point but good customer service is key for me..

No I am not using the numbers at all, and have adjusted the focus on the end. I have several leupolds and they focus great for me, I just can't get this one to focus, I have no problems with it except it just won't focus in 100%.

Have you spent the time (before shooting it) to run through the process of adjusting the reticle/ocular focus properly? If you haven't/don't do that, you are wasting your time. It usually takes me 30 minutes to be certain I've got it dialed. It's really easy to screw it up because your eye will adjust pretty quickly, even if it's just a hair off. Which will add to the frustration when you start trying to dial out parallax at range.

I have but I will give it another shot.

Breakshunter,

I also have a Vortex 4-16X50 30mm HS and it appeared to be sort of fuzzy and difficult to focus. I sent it back and it was returned with the following note - "Replaced objective cell to improve clarity. Tightened and secured objective cell lock ring, and reset parallax. Tested all functions and optics of scope. Reset scope to optical zero, cleaned and purged scope with argon gas." In addition a note was included regarding W/E from center as received and that was 9.75 MOA down and 6 MOA R. This indicates my scope as I mounted it was reasonably centered.

Out of a scale of 1-100 in comparison with a Leupold 4.5-14X40 VXIII AO, 1 inch tube I would rate the Vortex at 85 and the Leupold at 91 (both at max power) -but I paid about 1/2 as much for the Vortex and the guys at Vortex were friendly. The Vortex is entirely useable but the Leupold is definitely better. The Vortex despite its 50 mm objective is not as bright (possibly subjective?) and focus is critical, focus adjustments are fussy. Individual evaluations are subjective, I can see 6mm bullet holes in the white better at 300 yards with the Leupold. A tiny tweak of the parallax knob makes a big focus change with the Vortex.

Possibly, you might send Vortex an email about your concerns. I have (2) 6.5-20X50 30mm Vipers and these have better definition but are apparently different optically with short eye relief - the reticle appears to be "in your face" with these scopes.

I am debating the Diamondback HP 4-16X44 or 3-12X44 for a hunting scope on a 7MM. I am used to Leupold scopes, but I can get a great deal on the Vortex. Is it worth trying?

HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!! I have historically always been a Leupold person and still have several and would probably buy another if the need arose and the price were right. But I just got a fantastic deal on a Vortex Golden Eagle HD 15-60X52 from Vortex and I'm wondering what else have I missed in not buying a Vortex before. If you want to talk Warranty, Vortex covers their scope no matter if you sell it to someone else. But the clarity in this Vortex matched any of my Leo's to include the 35X and 45X Comp scopes to name a few. I don't believe you'd go wrong in buying the Vortex.

Also just bought my first Vortex (also a GE) and now the Razor AMG is just calling out my name to go on my LR hunting rifle. I dont know how long I can fight it...

If it's still blurry, call them. The VIP warranty is the best in the business. Squeaky wheel..... Then if that is still blurry, you may need an ophthalmologist to confirm no astigmatism.
