Ordered a vortex viper hs lr. Have heard the lower end stuff they offer is made somewhere else, but keep hearing that they are a usa company. Did not check web reviews, that is my fault. I was very surprized when it arrived yesterday when looking it over saw made in phillipines stamped on the bottom.
Are any of Vortex's scopes at least assembled in the ole usa?

It is very unlikely that ANY of their stuff is made here. Companies that make stuff in the USA are very conscious of the sales power that "Made in the USA" has... and they go out of their way to make sure you know it.

There is no mention of USA anywhere on their website!!

Call them and ask.

It doesnt necessarily mean the scope wont work. It may not be a high end scope but there are many people who use them and enjoy them.

Their Razor HDs are/were produced by the same firm that produces Nightforce components in Japan. The rest of their lines are made throughout the Indo-Pacific. The Vipers are pretty reliable scopes but I've seen & heard more stuff about the Diamondbacks to put them in the low-end category where clicks can be inconsistent and zeros shaken.

I believe the Vortex HQ is out of Wisconsin. Go to the Vortex website and the contacts page for the address and telephone number.

I don't begrudge Vortex for having to work with suppliers outside the USA...to stay in business in manufacturing these days, in many businesses it is just a fact of life.

The masses in the USA want Wal-Mart prices for everything, and in many cases that cannot be accomplished within the US due to not only the cost of labor, but to a host of other costs...I'm in California and the taxes on manufactures here is legendary.

Also, I have found that "Made in the USA" is does not always mean the manufacturer feels strongly enough to only buy from within the USA either. I know of at least 1 mainstay motorcycle company in the US that machines their engines using Japanese machinery, but based on their marketing, you'd never know.

mounted a 4-16 HS-LR on my Tikka Swede this summer...

works well...especially like the 1/2" elevation turret....

Also use Vortex PST's on my p/dog guns..

Jonbearman you are correct it will more than likely be an great scope when I get a chance to try it out. My desire for this scope was the 1/2" elev clicks. Leupold could of been had for just small amount more, but this one had the features I wanted to try.

I have a Vortec Razor 5-20x50 EBR3, a Razor 3moa reflex sight, a Straight Razor 20-60 spotter with MIL 30x eye piece, and a few SPARC red dots, and I plan on adding more to my use and abuse arsenal, I like in no particlor order their price, performance, toughness, and should I ever need it warrenty, I have shot out at past 1 mile with 5-20 Razor many times, used my Razor spotter in numerous matches while ROing, and have won or placed high in many local club matches with the other Vortec products I abuse and use, none have failed yet, a Razor 1-6 is in my future for a match AR15 I'm putting together, Scott shoots in many PRS matches, is always bending over backwards to help people, and is a great representative a Vortec and the Precision Rifle community, simply Vortec makes good solid products that perform above the price paid for them, and they stand behind there products

I bought a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50 PA Matte Riflescope with Dead-Hold BDC Reticle 2yrs ago and use it on my midrange BRX. Great optics and very reliable.
It Offers:
•ViewMag adjustment bar lets you keep track of target and magnification at the same time
•Fast focus eyepiece is quick and easy to use
•Side parallax adjustment turret
•Pop-up dials let you easily set elevation and windage back to zero
•Audible clicks are easily counted for fast, precise adjustment of elevation and windage
•Fine Plex reticle allows for extreme precise shooting, especially when highly magnified
•Target Dot reticle uses fine wires and a small central dot for the aiming point
•Exclusive XR coatings target more details
•30mm tube
•Argon Gas Purging does not diffuse as quickly as other elements, extending the service life of the optics longer
•Vortex VIP Lifetime Warranty

I have a Vortex Viper HS 6x24x50 mounted on one of my 22-250's. I can't find anything wrong with it. Works well for me. I wish I could buy everything USA made but it isn't always possible in today's world.
