Vortex Razor HD 5x20x50 Scope Review

Hello All,

Anyone have any feedback on the Vortex Razor HD scope? I read one thread here that turned into a debate about Mils vs MOA and there really wasn't a lot of discussion concerning the actual scope. I would like to get some feedback good or bad as I am looking for a FFP scope for long range steel matches and general purpose long range shooting, say out to 1,200 yards for something in the $1500 - 2000 range. I have read a ton on how awesome the Gen II's are, but have never had an opportunity to use either and would welcome any thoughts.

Thanks!

Since no one else is chiming in I'll give you my two cents. I believe in that price range the vortex is about as good as it gets. I have had two of them both performed flawlessly. I also have a GEN II vortex and while the glass on it is noticeably better I wouldn't hesitate using a GEN one at any point in time.

Brasb nailed it.I have the gen11 and gen1 both are great scopes, but the gen11 is more clear than the gen 1 plus I like the zero stop features better on the gen 11.I say buy what you can afford and start shooting neither one will hold you back,

Sorry didn't see the thread. Yup the Gen 1 Razor is a very good scope. Glass is clear, clickless zeroing for perfect zero, true zero stop, a lot of elevation at around 125 MOA and a good reticle. As mentioned in the price range it is a great option.

Here is mine ion my .308. I have since moved it to a 7mm RM for the extra elevation for longer ranges.

Great feedback, thanks to all! Nice looking rigs as well. The Gen 1 is about the top of my price range right now and looks like one of the better options in that price range. Does anyone have any feedback on tracking performance/reliability? I would like to get into PRS style matches and I just want to get the best bang for my buck.

I have a gen 1 on a 260 and have shot it out to a mile with no problems with tracking or return to zero. It's probably the best ffp scope for the money. Glass is clear through out the power range. Clicks are solid and zero stop works great. With 120moa it's perfect for reaching out there! Mine come with a bubble level which is essential for long range shooting.

Get a set of vortex rings mount it and shoot! You will love it!!

Thanks for the info. I was able to briefly take a peek through a gen 1 and the glass was indeed clear and the clicks seemed very positive as well. I agree, seems like the best bang for the buck for a scope of this caliber. Having a local gun shop price one today to see if he can compete with the online deals, he usually does. I really appreciate everyone's input!
