Just reaching out for opinions on these. A search brings up a lot of them that were for sale. If you have used one I would certainly appreciate your comments - good, bad, or otherwise. I would be using it mostly for hunting, occasionally for looking for bullet holes in paper. Thanks.

nice spotting scope. Only issue I had with mine was the skin was getting tacky. I sold it and disclosed the issue rather than send it in for warranty but feel sure they would have fixed that issue. Good glass for the money

I bought one of the older version Vortex Razor 20-60x85s (A1) as my first "decent" spotting scope about ten years ago. I paid ~$1600.00 for it at the time, and have never regretted the decision. After a decade of exemplary performance, I finally need to send it in to Vortex to have a little work done, nothing major, just general wear and tear over the years. A while back I came across an advertisement for the exact same [new in box] 20-60x85 Razor scope on sale for essentially half of I originally paid for it. I jumped on the deal and purchased another one. I don't regret that decision, either, as now I won't be without my spotter while Vortex does their thing with it. I'm pretty sure the older 20-60-x85 Razors were on sale just to get rid of them, as the newer 27-60x85 had already been released.

The thing to be aware of is that the current/new version 27-60x85 Vortex Razor spotting scope does not have the coarse/fine focus adjustment knobs like the older 20-60x85 version. It has a single "helical focus" band that goes around the scope body, rather than coarse/fine focus knobs protruding slightly above the scope body like the older 20-60x85 Razor. I much prefer having the knob-type coarse/fine focus adjustment knobs, which are extremely easy to turn, so the newer "around the body" band-type focus is not as much to my liking. My understanding from vendors that have carried both is that the glass quality is about the same, but I have not actually looked through one of 27-60x85s, so that is purely anecdotal. The glass on the older 20-60x85 Razor is excellent, so I'd imagine the glass on the newer version would be at least as good. Nonetheless, if you can still find a supplier selling one of the older 20-60x85 Razor scopes at a reduced price, I would strongly suggest considering it.

I had one side by side with my Zeiss. I was impressed. Especially for the price. We compared spotting 6mm bullet holes at 500 yds. You will read a lot of b's on here. My advice is compare side by side. I doubt many of the b's artists have.

I picked up one of the old version for $750 on the clear out. Told my buddy about it and his wife went into the sporting good store to get him a Xmas gift. Salesman talked her into the new model at almost twice the price. We checked them side by side, couldn't see any difference.
