Vortex Nomad vs Nikon prostaff

Hi,

I am after an entry level spotting scope. Sinclair have the Nikon prostaff 5 and the Vortex Nomad, that might fit the bill.

Does anyone have experience with either of these scopes.

TIA

not sure about the two you have mentioned but bout 8 years ago i bout an entry level burris spotting scope....took it out on one hunt and it hasnt seen daylight since....my opinion id buy a good one if you plan on using it alot...personaly i just use my swaro binos for just about everything that i needed a spotting scope for. High power out of a cheap spotting scope is not all that one would hope it would be...

Sure - I'm no stranger to good optics (I use leica geovids) but I want an entry level spotting scope to see if I will even use it.

Thanks

I have used the Nikon PROSTAFF 5 Spotter before and it worked very well for seeing hit's on steel at 600 yards. This spotter was reworked for 2012 giving it new ergonomic features and increased glass quality. While entry level it still is not cheap and I suggest going some place that carries this spotter and checking it out and any other's in a similar price range to help you with your decision. I also really like Nikon's ED50 spotter, it's a little more $ but lighter and more compact so it's easier to pack away. I borrow a buddies ED50 when I go on vacation.

Forgot to add, Check out Nikon's Spotter XL II. Comes as a complete package, check it out at Nikonhunting.com.
Very nice spotter and glass!

Thanks Bman - I'm pretty tempted with the Nikon - good to know it has upgraded glass....reviews look good to....initially I was not so keen as I didn't know about warranty details...but I see they carry 25yr warranty as well.
