Vortex Guarantee - The Best

Monday 2/20 I mounted a new Golden Eagle to my .308 and looked forward to zeroing it and giving it a good range test. After 5 rounds I ran into a problem which I couldn't explain and wasn't about to try to solve on my own. I attempted to adjust the windage and found the turret had only two clicks of right adjustment. This surprised me since my experience with new scopes is they are generally "centered." What happened next was the crux of this problem - while attempting to adjust the elevation, the turret mechanism literally came off in my hand. Initially I just assumed the locking nuts needed a little snugging. That was not the problem but what I did notice was the "center post" (because I don't know what it's called) was clearly bent. When I saw that I realized we had a major issue with a brand new - and expensive - scope. I contacted Vortex after completing the repair form found online. I talked with a man by the name of Tim who couldn't have been more accommodating or more concerned for my inconvenience. Although Vortex uses FedEx he was more than willing to reimburse my UPS fee. Tim called me Thursday morning to let me know the scope was on his desk and would be given to a tech in short order. Last night I got notification the scope has been shipped and would be delivered Saturday. I spoke with Tim this morning - Friday - to thank him for such outstanding service and to find out what they had found. Apparently someone - NOT me had forced the turret and had bent the post. This brings up a real concern which I voiced to Tim - although purchased for a well known online vendor as new, I have to wonder if this scope hadn't seen a prior trip "somewhere" given the seriousness of the problem. I am not going to throw stones of suggestion about the vendor because I don't know what went on with the scope in another life. What I do want to say is the Vortex Guarantee is every bit as advertised and probably more given the way I was treated.

Good to hear they took care of you. Some people always trumpet "the best warranty is the one you don't have to use", which is only part of the true statement. The rest is "but if you do need it then it should be a good one that covers everything" and Vortex VIP is excellent. In the real world stuff happens and it's good to know if you do have an issue the company stands behind their product and treats the customer well. They get the product fixed fast. One of the best parts is that they even cover accidental damage. Drop the rifle off the bench? Covered. Accidentally run it over with a truck? Covered. Scope in a house fire? Covered. That's a good warranty.

you are right they have a good warrenty but it cost me $30 dollars everytime I send one in and my vortex has been back 4 times! when it gets back this time it will be for sale? all I have seen have trouble on forcus after you use them for a while.

Been running my Vortex scopes in competitions for almost 3 years now and no issues. What scope do you have?

Sounds like every vortex I have ever encountered. Been back to the shop at least once. I will never trust a vortex or buy one ever again.

The scope is a Golden Eagle and I am very happy with it after a range workout Friday then a 500 yard match today. I think it'll take more range time before I can make a conclusion of Vortex vs NF benchrest but at this point I think it's too close to call.

Sounds like you got a bad scope. I've got four Vortex scopes and everyone has worked flawlessly.

I had multiple viper series scopes. HST PST doesn't matter every one went back for tracking issues or the reticle twisting when the power adjusted or knob coming completely off. As far as I am concerned with vortex they make a damn fine boat anchor.

My daughter broke the fiber rod off my Razor, they had parts in the mail the same day, arrived two days after I emailed them. Even got a free hat.
