Vortex Golden Eagle?

I’m interested in one of these, with that said, have they been improved changed since they first came out? Vortex lists the price as $2799 with street prices around $2k. I see used ones selling here for around $11-1200. I have no idea what retail was a few years ago. Were the early ones problematic?

I have one on a 22 Creedmoor and it has performed well, I also have March and Nightforce scopes the Vortex has a bigger eye box and it works well for target use.

I own a wide variety of Vortex products. I have never seen them make any changes without changing the descriptive title of the item and/or model #. I own several Golden Eagles, acquired over a span of years, and all are exactly identical.

Buy one used for $1200ish. They are decent but definitely not $2K quality glass. You can buy a NF Comp new in the $2200-$2400 range with glass that is many times better than the GE glass. I have both.

I have a golden eagle with fine crosshair reticle. In the $1200 price range (used). I don’t think you’ll be able to beat it. I also have a Nightforce comp. Which is nice but I prefer the GE reticle.

I have one that I bought new years ago. I think it was about $1400. It is a good scope but for $2000 I think I would go with something else.

Before I ordered online, I did a search and many were Sold. Especially with the ECR reticle.

I buy them in excellent condition used on the forums. The most I’ve spent was $1100. I like them and the Vortex warranty is great.

Well 2 cents. I had Two Golden Eagles ( got them on Military discount). Used on F/Open Rifles. They were the Hot Number for that type shooting and still see some.
I moved to Sightron now have a few of then all for Target Shooting.
If you can get out to a Match ask to look thru a scope or two ?

I find them better all the way around.
With Lance XXX on this site as a dealer and at sale time you can't go wrong. My 2 cents.
Two important factors on Rifle Scopes, one your eyes will tell you what they like,two it must repeat in adjustments.
There is nothing wrong with a GE..

Thanks ltd, I’m currently using a Sightron SIII 45X45, I’ve had 3 of them. I’ve had a couple NF also, and many more. I bought all my Sightrons from lance. Just thought I’d try the Vortex.

There must be a reason that at any time you can find Golden Eagles for sale
slightly used in like new condition.
That and the number of times Vortex customer service is used and praised.
These are reasons that I went with Lance and Sightron.

You will be disappointed in the deterioration of optical quality with the GE.

this ^^^ they are great to bout low 40's power then down hill...on 42x they are great I like the ecr reticle,, had a couple and now I want another to look at
