Vortex diamnond back 4-16x44

I have a 6.5x284 norma savage 116 xp weather warrior. I messed around with this gun for a bit when i first got it but had inconsistent results with my reloads. Its been sitting in the gun cabinet scopeless for a few years now. Id like to buy a scope for it to get it back out and start long range shooting.

local gun range goes out to 800+ yds. Most of my fields i hunt are 500 and in for groundhogs. Id like to take a deer at longer range then the norm of 50-100 yds i hunt with.

im looking at this but the exposed turrets scare me. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1020545620?pid=189609

ny thoughts? Id be carrying the gun maybe a couple hundred yds to set up. I can visually look and see if the knobs are right but its not tough back country hunting. Mostly farm fields. The scope that was on it is sitting on a 25-06 but the turrets have caps. I like the ret on this scope but was wondering what you guys thoughts where?

I have heard that scope does well for that price range. You will enjoy dialing the turrets for different yardages. Vortex will stand behind it.

I hunt with exposed turrets all the time, lots of vortex and Burris. Guns go in and out of back pack scabbards and cases a lot and very rarely does anything get moved.

I have hunted for 40 years with a 6.5 x 20 Leupold in various terrain often hiking several hours and have never had the exposed turrents move. Not to worry, a quick glance verifies no movement.

I have the Diamondback 6-24x50 with the EBR-2C MOA reticle. Even at the lowest setting the reticle is hard for me to see in the early and late hours of the day. I would suggest you look through one before you buy if possible.

Do you mean on the highest setting?

I too have a Diamondback 6-24x50 with the EBR-2C MRAD and yes, the rectal is quite fine, which is one of it's features I really like . . . except in low light + low magnification. So, for hunting, that can be a big issue.

I just bought the Bushnell Forge for a 10/22 build that I did and was really impressed with the glass. I wanted the extra power for 200 yard targets and beyond. So impressed with it that I ordered a second one. Normally I have Sightrons or Nikon Monarchs on my rifles and to my eyes this scope is more impressive in the glass department, could be the bigger objective lens but nonetheless all the extras it has like the zero stop and the tracking did it for me.
They have them at 50% off on sale with free shipping and a rebate where you can get Kenyan custom turret knobs a $99 dollar value free. But in all transparency the one con I have on this scope is that the reticles are wire not etched, but to me it is not a concern as the scopes are for 22lr rifles. For $100 more you can get it in FFP, mine are SFP.
