Voldoc's Varminters Gun(s) of the Week

Forum Boss

Administrator
I know it's been a long time since the last gun of the week, but we have three exceptional rifles to lust after -- Thanks to Dr. John (aka Voldoc02 here on the Forum). John supplied the photos and a nice tale of nailing a prairie dog at a confirmed 1,032 yards. We don't know for sure, but that might be the first 1K+ Pdog kill with a .20 caliber rifle. VolDoc was shooting a Savage with a 20BR Hart barrel for the successful 1K shot.

I wish I could get these big stories out more often but this can take 2-3 entire days, uninterrupted, and there are so many other tasks that fill my schedule.

At the request of some readers, I added some targets for VolDoc's 20BR. Looks like those Berger 55-grainers can be very accurate in the Hart Barrel on this gun.

Paul,
Nice write up on Voldoc's rifles I really enjoyed reading it.

Voldoc,
I was one of the skeptics on your 20br 1K prairie dog rifle to be, then you got the rifle back and posted the results of your 100 yard targets, I was still very skeptical it would be able to accurately reach your goal,....then you did it ;D I stood corrected then and I stand corrected now,...YOU DID IT ;) great job and congratulations on the guns of the week, it's definitely well deserved. I am looking forward to your next quest :)
Wayne.

Wayne,
I read all your posts and always find them
very well founded and thought through=
I value your opinions=
thanks for the kind words and Ole VolDoc is
done with challenges for a while=
think I'll get back to my Franchised 97 yd Club= (g)
Doc

PS- thanks (Forum Boss), Paul for all your hard work on the piece=

Just want to congratulate one of the finest fellows I've met in the the shooting sports.... my ole buddy VolDoc. Great shot, great shootin, and REALLY enjoyed the article. :)

He's a hard working, dedicated fella so no surprise to us who know him that he accomplished the feat. ;) WD

I'm waiting for the naysayers to come out and say the 20's can't compete.

No one is going to do that on the forum bosses own thread, besides I already did that to Voldoc02 when he was building it :)

Nice looking rig Doc. I'm just waiting for delivery of the 6mmCoyote I bought from you. From the look of it, all your stuff is "top shelf".

All of his stuff that I've seen IS top shelf...and so is he. He just has too many good guns that are Tennessee orange. Kentucky blue and white would make him and his guns mucho bestest. :) --Mike Ezell

Hey, Mike, watch that! Building one (really gorgeous) blue and white gun for a die-hard Orange and White guy doesn't let you go knocking orange.

Good shooters are the norm in Ky.(nowadays anyway) When was the last time you saw a good shooter wear UT orange? ;)
