Voldoc, Dr. John Stone, came over Sunday to check the elevation
come-ups on his new March. We had either a gong or paper target
at 100 yd intervals to 800 yd. He wanted to check his ballistic chart
against real world conditions. Voldoc will use this test to verify his
come-ups for a tape that will be applied to his elevation turret. His
bullet is his tried and true, go to red mist load, 87 gr V-Max out of
a Nesika J Dasher. Doc has doubles with this combination out to 700 yd
and many kills past 1,000. It is a 12 twist heavy varmint Krieger.
Dirt berms have just been completed at 100, 300, 600, 700, & 780 yds.
The dirt came from cleaning out a dry pond. The pond bank serves
as a berm at 700 yd.
Voldoc started at 100 and shot at 100 yard intervals recording his elevation
at each interval. His ballistic chart was within a click or two at each distance.
When he reached 780 yds, he repeated the test at each distance down to
300 yd. Dead on!
Doc has a guy on this board do his tapes to custom fit his turrets. He has
the tapes on his 20 BR, 22 BR, and 6 Dasher. He has NF's
on these rifles. The 20 BR is the gun featured in a Guns of the Week report
after he made a 1,000 yd PLUS prarie dog kill with the little 20 shooting
55 gr Bergers.
Twin Scopes
Customized ballistic tape will fit perfectly on the elevation turret.
Voldoc uses a Leica rangefinder bino and I use a Vectronex.
Results:
780 yds
The pic confirms VolDoc has his zeroes confirmed with a 1.5 in.

A great way to spend a Sunday. Temps reached 103 degrees
but Doc got to the Dasher Dome at 5:30 a.m. and we beat the
heat. After test completed we walked two miles with temps in
the 90's.
Good friends, good BR's, BEST of TIMES!!!!
