Vista Outdoors price increases

Hang on guys & gals, prices going up again.

Companies that will increase their prices include Remington, Alliant Powder, CCI, Federal, SEVI-Shot and Speer. The following increases include:

  • Shotshell: 1-7 percent
  • Rifle: 1-7 percent
  • Handgun: 1-5 percent
  • 22LR/Shorts: 1-5 percent
  • WMR/HMR: 1-7 percent
  • Primers: 5 percent
  • Alliant Powder: 10 percent (limited availability).

Is Vista attempting to raise revenue to make a pending sale? Is this part of the sale agreement? Is this just a ploy to close the pending sale? So many variables, and so little information at this point it would appear. I would love to have some better inside information.

Alliant just recently went up 30% across the board and now another 10% which has us shotgun shooters loading new and different powders which are $100 cheaper for an 8lbs jug... So far some of the different or newer powders have been working as good or better than the big names.... Once we find a good one we all stick with it so they can raise the price as much as they can but we won't be buying from them.... Don't be afraid to try and test new stuff sometimes you find a better way....

Buckle up - hyperinflation is coming - can't run a 30+ trillion national debt that continues to rise - it's unsustainable. Rough times are ahead I believe. Of course, I would like nothing better than to be wrong, but history tells us what happens to government spending gone sideways.

And we got a halfwit on the steering wheel.
And that's the real problem.... The average households is now spending $11,400+ a year more now than the previous presidents last MONTH in office.... There's was definitely COVID 19 happening then also....So that would mean to stay even , in the last year you would need a $20,000 a year raise... I didn't get mine... That's not political , that's economics.... The American public is getting it with no lube...

I'm done with Alliant. They can kiss my rosy red arse!

Simple economics yet it gets shouted down frequently by people who won’t stop buying. I think empty wallets will cure the problem but that’s going to be really painful medicine for everyone because it will affect more than just leisure spending.
That’s mostly true. But some of us would rather pay the extra price because the time it takes to recreate wheel is more expensive. Still, everyone has their tipping point.

Sad part is that when One does it , the rest all jump on the wagon , to "get theirs" , too . ad those of us who don't have excessively deep pockets will pay in two ways . The higher prices , and less amount of rounds down-range .

Everyone is jumping all over Vista and Alliant for raising prices. Has anyone asked if the overseas companies that make the powders that Alliant imports and re-brands have raised their prices? If that were the case, would you expect Alliant to eat the price increase? I would fully expect any increase imposed by those companies to be passed along by Alliant. Just makes sense business wise. I load RL15 & RL17 and recently switched to N555 because of the shortages and sharply increased cost. We can all be pissed at the increases but lets look at the overall picture.
Full disclosure, I am a Vista stockholder, 45 shares, but NOT a Vista fan boi after their announced sale of the Sporting Group.

Yes sir it's crazy out there , now when things are coming back some companies are choosing to try and stick it to consumers instead of coming down in price.... Now , screwing around with shotgun loads is dangerous because it's a low pressure weapon and before all this crap I would only load exactly as a recipe said like every loading manual says.. Now I have learned a ton about substitutions in shotgun loads and it's basically like rifle loads in my opinion.... Please don't take my opinion for anything.... Your taking a big chance if you're wrong....

But , we have learned substitutions in things like using cheddite primers instead of Winchester 209 and like normal backing down a half a grain and moving forward won't blow up a gun etc.... Please don't start on how your Browning broke a bottom firing pin with them , just put upgraded firing pins in and move on... You can't get win 209 primers and here we haven't been able to get them for three years now , so it's either that or don't shoot... I use Beretta shotguns and put tens of thousands through it with zero problems since this crap has started... Something I would have never done before because I wouldn't be using those primers... Same thing with a lot of things powder , wads etc... Get a recipe and stay as close as you can but I am not going to stop shooting because I am scared to try new things and work up a load weather it's shotgun , pistol or rifle simply because I can't find or afford a component to a load.. As of now I don't care if win 209 primers ever come back because cheddite has been working fine.... Now if they would only go back to $19.99 a thousand they would be even better... Once again take this post with a grain of salt because nobody wants problems big or small and nobody wants to get hurt but I just refuse to stop doing what I like because some companies think they can run me over the coals...

When the shelves are full of products not moving the prices will come down! People just need to stop buying for a little while and the gouging will stop. From a business standpoint it is a simple concept. Product not moving, reduce the price. Just like Bud Light, they can't give it away! VV powder is looking very attractive at the moment.
