Folks, we need Forum members to visit the Bulletin more often. The editorial side of the site generates Ad revenue that helps keeping the Forum going.

You really can learn something (and save money) by visiting the Bulletin regularly.
There are good articles on Reloading, Marksmanship, Gun Maintenance, Optics, Wind Reading, plus match reports, gear reviews, and hunting info.

We release content in the Bulletin every day of the year. Over 10,000 articles have been published. And every Monday we highlight bargains with our Deals of the Week.

Here are three recent Bulletin Articles everyone should read --

How to Reduce Vertical Stringing (Gear & Gun Handling)

As a last note, please understand that along with running the Forum as Moderator, I have produced 98% of the content in the Daily Bulletin over the last 18 years -- over 10,000 stories. I have personally written more articles than two NRA magazines combined have published in that period.

But folks, I turn 70 years old in 4 weeks. I need to finally scale back after working 355+ days a year for a LONG time.

So check out the Daily Bulletin. Use the Bulletin search function and the calendar to find many articles. It is a vast resource. No matter what your interest or shooting discipline, you'll find good info. Plus every Saturday we feature select YouTube Videos. Today's Saturday Movies article features reviews of Rifle Transport Cases:

Paul, just a word of thanks for all you do to keep the site running and viable.
AS is by far the best firearms site on the net, always informative and friendly with folks from all walks of life and extensive experience. I seldom come away without learning something new and check in daily for that very reason.

Good job sir, and thank you!

Color me guilty . I read the page before going to the Forum , and read every article that catches my interest . Appreciate all the time you put into this site , and it is the best Firearms site I've ever come across . That's why I became a Gold member when I joined .

Along with our Deals of the Week, we just released an article on Scopes. If you have ever had a scope start to behave erratically, or had the vertical move dramatically from shot to shot, you should definitely read this Bulletin article. After explaining things to look for, I gave the example of one of my own scopes that had internal failures causing multiple FEET of vertical impact change at 600 yards. The scope was sent back to the maker which reported: "Replaced Adjustment Elevation; Replaced Adjustment Windage; Reworked Erector System; Reworked Selector; Reworked Parallax Control."

FYI, there was a recent running Forum thread by a member recounting a similar problem with vertical jumps. He wondered if it was his load. Turns out it was a problem with the scope.

Today we released a big Bulletin article about hunting -- 20 Tips for Hunters. You'll find smart advice on planning, pre-hunt preparation, equipment, and much more. If you are planning a hunt this fall, this article is a "MUST READ".

Twenty Tips For Hunters -- Good Advice

Here are some highlights:

10. Make a Gear Checklist — Create a complete checklist of the gear and supplies you need. That includes arms, ammunition, rangefinder, binoculars, proper clothing, hunting accessories, sleeping gear (on multi-day hunts), toiletries, medications. Don’t forget a good first aid kit.

11. Have a Plan — know where you plan to go and when. Try to be where you want in the early morning and early evening hours when deer are likely most active.

12. Take Your Time — If you spot a deer and get too excited and don’t take your time you may spook him. Go slow and glass. If possible, wait for the animals to bed down and relax. Then work out the best way to approach your prey. Remember, “You get so few opportunities, don’t screw it up!”

13. Glass More, Walk Less — Let your eyes do the walking — get good binoculars and use them. With their heightened senses of smell and hearing, deer/elk are able to spot you way better than you can spot them. If you are walking around a lot, chances are you are getting spotted by your prey.

14. Riflescopes Are Not Binoculars — Never use a riflescope as a substitute for binoculars. The temptation to do so is real, but when one does this, one is by definition pointing the muzzle of the gun at unknown targets. We like binoculars with built-in rangefinders.

Here's a Good Feature with Safety Advice for all handloaders. In addition, there's a special video about loading hunting ammunition.
