i have shot various vintage mil rifle matches for almost 20 yrs...and in my humble opinion.........

mixing cmp/dcm postition shooting with vintage mil rifles is only fun for EX CMP SHOOTERS.

we shoot vintage pre 1957 at 200 in three forms. prone, off a bench no gear, off a bench with support, and once a yr we do a sniper match with any 4x scope allowed on an other wise legal rifle. 20 shots per match or 22 with best of 20 counting.

we also do 100 yd military bolt action bench rest. we started with 5 10 shot strings but with the economy and such have gone to 5 5 shot strings, the first two strings are for group...an opportunity to move your sights to the middle. and the last three strings are score.
any ammo safe in your rifle. two pc rifle rests, spotting scopes.

STOCK rifles of AS ISSUED FORMAT
NO target rifles, no snipers no 22rf( we do shoot a 4x scope match at the end of the year)
reworking the stock trigger is allowed
new bbl's in an orginal chambering
taller frt sight to allow a 100yd zero...but the same width as the original.
just stuff to consider from an guy who has done both....cnp/dcm and "club" vintage mil.
