Vihtavuori Powders -- Sales Strong, no Mfg. Plant Closures

Forum Boss

There were some internet forum postings spreading false rumors that the Nammo powder plant in Finland would close and Vihtavuori powders might be phased out. This is completely untrue.

Adam Braverman posted the following this morning in response to the "rumor thread":

This is Adam Braverman, Business and Sales Manager for Lapua and VihtaVuori in the USA. This is not true that VV powders will be discontinued and the factory closed down. There has been a down turn in the military market in Finland for powder, but the commercial reloading powders are doing quite well and will continue.

Thanks,

Adam

Note to Forum members--

When dealing with an issue such as a manufacturer going out of business, or a product line being terminated, please don't post unsubstantiated rumors without verification. There is already too much incorrect info being spread on the internet.

When you're talking about an ongoing business... unverified comments can do damage by themselves, even if they are not true.

"Boss" A big thank you for clearing up yet another internet lie!

Myself and those around me who have seen this false and misleading posting, appreciate your efforts.

I've become so skeptical of most postings of this type that I just ignore them. Thanks again.

Contrary to what vit manager was saying I made the original posting about the forthcoming announcement

Nobody believed me

Instead somebody from vit USA same on and like lemmings everybody believed what he posted

Of course he is going to deny it

Now it is official

So perhaps some kinds words form folks that that I was correct ?

Forum Boss posted a Quote from Adam Braverman stating that there was a downturn in MILITARY powder in Fin and that CIVILIAN powders continued to do quite well and would continue.

Thx Forum Boss for the update. As an aside, it should have been a clue to most that when such a post occurs and the poster cannot even spell the name of the manufacturer correctly, that something might been amis and the information might be ONLY useful to filling a hot air balloon.

There is an update here

http://yle.fi/uutiset/government_to_rescue_last_gunpowder_factory/6462398

Only a few weeks out from what I posted in June 2012

From the posted link it would appear that both stories could be correct. The plant in Finland may close, but apparently the others will stay open.

So does that mean Vhita Vuori Powders should be bought up like every other powder that used to be available these days? That's wonderful! So if they take away the guns best they can and no reloading components are available anywhere, are we all REALLY gonna be safer like some suggest? What the snot is REALLY going here?

This is the key "closing" paragraph ...

French owner Eurenco says it will close the Vihtavuori smokeless powder plant in Laukaa, north of Jyväskylä, within five weeks unless it finds a buyer for it.

... and this is the last paragraph ...

Vihtavuori smokeless powder is widely distributed in the United States and elsewhere. Eurenco also has plants in France, Belgium and Sweden.

... which leads me to discern that the Laukaa plant will close and plants in other countries will remain open. I'm not here to start or end a fight, just trying to understand the situation.

The best case would be the Vihtavuori powders would be made in a different plant, the worse case would be the Vihtavuori plant is a brand they brought and when the plant closes, so goes the powder. A bit like when GM closed SAAB, the brand was no longer manufactured.

Not to be a pessimist, but to me, it sounds like the latter since the brand was originally state owned and was then sold to Eurenco. If you look at this Eurenco website, it looks like they have other propellant factories but Vihtavuori was their “Sporting and hunting cartridge” subsidiary.
