viht n160 powder

i have a tub of n160 laying around and was wondering if i could use it in my 6br to maybe run in the barrel,or would it be too slow a burner to use,i was thinking maybe 80gn bullets?
thanks for any replies garyw.

Gary -

Howdy !

I'd have to say VV160 in a 6BR would be S L O W.

It's great in things like .22-250 and .220 Swift, with 55s +

I think a lot of guys are going to tell you to select a faster powder, faster than WW760 and H414 ). Probably...Varget.

N160 is far too slow for 6BR. In larger cases as 6.5-284 it's close to ideal. I use it in 6.5x55, as many other scandinavian target shooters.

I use N150 in my Dashers because it's just a tad slower than Varget, and gives a bit more velocity without leaving any more carbon in the bore than Varget. N160 is my powder of choice for 6x47L & 6.5x55, but I'm sure it's quite a bit too slow to work in the Dasher, which has about 5grs. more case capacity than a std. BR, while the 6x47 has about 6grs. more capacity than a Dasher.

80gr bullets, no way N160 is going to work OK.

BTW, go to http://www.vihtavuori.fi/ for manufacturer data on Vihtavuori powders. On the left, select "Reloading data" and you get couple of links for latest manual,on link on right, on in the middle of text).
